Xperia Z1 MMS issues

Having some frustration with MMS. I understand that MMS go through the mobile network, and when your on WiFi, mobile data doesn't get used.

When I have them both on, MMS will not send nor receive. Turn off WiFi and and it works. Is there a way around this incovinience?

MMS goes over mobile data connection, not wifi.

MMS should also work when WiFi is on (but it uses the mobile network). I would recommend that you first check the APN-type of your MMS settings. Go to Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> [your MMS settings]. Check that the APN-type is set to "mms".

Have checked my APN settings, the MMS APN is configured to mms under APN type and all others looks normal according to my carriers APN settings. Still getting the message 'Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped' when sending an MMS with BOTH Wi-Fi and mobile data turned on.

Which software version do you have in the phone? You can see this under Settings -> About phone.

Does it also happen if you start the phone in safe mode (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008)?

I have the same problem. Thou MMS works when turning off Wifi. If I Try to send a mms with wifi on, the whole messenger app crashes and no mms can be sent . Why does this happen?

i too have that problem and when u want to manually change mms portal settings the apn vanishes.... the mms does not go what so ever...

If MMS works fine when WiFi is turned off but not when you turn it on, please send me a PM with relevant topic and the following information and i'll forward this for further investigation:

If the APN vanishes when you create/edit it you have probably entered wrong MNC/MCC. The APN is saved but not displayed if the MNC/MCC doesn't match the network and SIM.

I reduced the size of pic from 250kb to 40kb and the mms went.... but quality suffered a lot... why so ???

hi new to this but I too am experiencing the same problem spoke with my phone carrier and was told everything was working fine from their end was refered to Sony support and spoke with them they told me to back up my phone except for sms so I did as they instructed but still not working it is very frustrating grrrr

MMS has never worked on the Z1 for me with the Norwegian operator Telenor.

Since the Z1 has ActiveSync problems, I have deceided to wait for the MMS to arrive on a second phone.

First things first... Just very frustrated that a flagship phone has all these bugs...

I neglected to mention that I also have the same issue with my Z1. I haven't noticed it not working with WiFi on or not but I did notice that, at least with T-Mobile, it may have something to do with what network mode is active. Most of the time I receive LTE but when I walked in the house it showed h+ and h and then the messages were sent and received.

If it works or 3G but not LTE it doesn't sound like a problem with the phone. I would recommend that you contact your operator in that case.

Hi there, I have the same issue with the ST27i. Unable to receive mms. Operator downloaded settings apn etc. Have formated phone and started all over, no luck. This realy annoying. My son has a samsung and his works.
