Xperia M showing errors in usb connection

My Xperia M is a bout a month andhalf old . Recently my friend. who has the same told me to encrypt the phone using the setting given. After doing so nowadays I am facing problem while connecting to usb storage.
The phone restarts in 5 min. of connecting it to my laptop, can't connect external usb drives.. The error it shows is ' Unfortunately storage has stopped'.
It has also started to freeze when I select storage or usb debugging in settings. Anyone facing similar woes or suggestion for correcting my situation? Pl..

No...I don't think this is the solution... Coz when I connect my phone to my laptop after restarting it It works but after tht once you disconnect It and connect it again it starts showing error I mentioned. The phone is detected as the led glows showing it's getting charged..
