I can't see anything in your photo - are you sure it's not just a scrape on the ASF film can sometimes be hard to tell

As for warranty - there is no manufacturers warranty on the planet that covers for accidents, you need extra cover for that - you admitted yourself dropping the phone from 1 foot onto carpet !! and please don't take offence and I'm not saying it is not true - but do you really expect anyone to actually believe you broke the screen dropping the phone onto a carpet floor ? and never mind from only a height of 12" seriously ?

and I'm not accusing you of telling porkies I'm simply saying - who is going to believe it

my phone hit a concrete floor hard last night from chest hieght and then got stood on and grinded screen down - it has deep scrapes in the ASF that could easily be confused with cracks

hope you get it sorted

Is this really a crack? I can't believe it would break that easily, I've watched a drop test of Z1 in youtube and there was hardly any damage on the unit. Maybe it is just on the anti-shatter film that was damaged.

People are gulible and Sony LIES to those this happens to that they are the only ones, that it is physical damage..

And most people do not report, fight, do not register on forums, etc..

And if it is that rare, then why isn't sony replacing the units if it is no meaningful cost according to "statistics"?

By the way, it may be sturdy when new for some, but the heating and internal components pressing outwards will tire

the glass.

Please this fault you have here is not specific to Sony handsets do some research it has happened to Samsungs,Lgs,Htcs and so on and so on but as the earlier post said if a manufacture sells 10 million phones and 1000 have this defect how is it the manufacturer's fault? With everything man made there is fault since no one is perfect and the fact is how do you replace a screen with a crack that came from the hardware inside and not replace one with a crack from a drop? Furthermore how do you differentiate the two? This guy was unlucky yes no doubt but for you to suggest this is a Sony only fault is blaspheme as glass has weak spots and as long as pressure is applied to the weakest point it will break and that is simple physics but for a company to replace a broken screen without proof of if it's their own hardware at fault or if the user is at fault is bad business simple, but that's not the consumers or the business fault now is it because Sony could easily add insurance to replace or fix a handset with a broken glass then you ppl will complain about the high price so how can you win as a business or consumer?

REally I sound like a company troll you are a troll that's what you are who appears on websites complaining about issues that you yourself haven't encountered cause you want to scam and bring down Sony's name. I live in a country that has the oldest population in the world per person and you know why it's cause we don't complain about insignificant stuff like a broken piece of glass when they are ppl starving and dying every day that live in far worst conditions that you or I can imagine. Yet with all our luxuries you come and complain about a Z1 you don't even own? I bet you will spend way more at on another product and not complain about it when it fails if it's made in your country cause you sound like a nationalistic moron, as I said in my post man is not perfect and therefore cannot create anything perfect but if out 10 million devices made one thousand are flawed that is a success and a failing rate of 0.01. Not my fault if you in the unlucky batch that got a defective device which I highly doubt you got since you sound like your picking up someone else fire rage do you even own a Sony device? Here's my advice, keep your sad story mentallity to yourself as we all have stories and aren't interested in yours unless it's informative and or giving insight into helping current Z1 users enjoy their phones or iron out possible problems which you have solved which I highly doubt so you can go hide under the bridge with the other trolls as they are no billy goats here crossing your bridge.

Thank you and good ridance from someone who bought the phone and wants useful and positive insight.

Don't speak for others. People who think like you usually overestimate the level of agreement among other users. I am an absolute troll, if a troll can be described as a user who was knowingly screwed over by a corporation, among many others. Call up the Dutch consumer watchdog and tell them that they are trolls for calling on Sony to fix the issue. It is progress though that Sony at leas acknowledged that "some rare" phones do have screen issues... By the way, also write what you did into those other topics of Sony users with the problem. Make them quit whining. And to take the petition down... They are apparently all trolls also. As long as spineless consumers fail to do their job, corporations will screw them over. Samsung too has issues but I would be pressing them if it happened to me on a Samsung. It happened to me on a Sony and I received nothing but lies and empty smoke from them. Far worse than a flawed product. So again, I am writing this so that those who do like to do their homework, can inform themselves. The Galaxy S4 also has a similar issue it seems, some Iphones 5 bend in pockets, etc.. So do your homework but also buy from companies who admit their problems and correct them within warranty, not try to make customers pay additional 80% to have the same thing happen to them weeks later again, as has happened to many Z users. Instead of whining, go read those experiences. You might share one of those within days, weeks or months..

Fact is I know the issue very well and I have followed it extensively but as I said in my post man is not perfect and nothing that is made by him cannot be perfect either, with that said I think by that alone you should know the kind of person I am. I always expect the unexpected and no I'm not a troll but I would not of gone there if that person hadn't gone there secondly I'm not a sheep but I do look at things from all angles. As I said if 10 million phones are sold and 1000 screens crack by themselves and another 1000 lost the waterproofing because the adhesive did not last that is not a big failure as the vast majority of devices still work and still hold together, am I right? But let's look at the issue differently and or subjectively instead of coming to this forum of the Z1 and telling us this phone will do the same thing is wrong and here's why it's wrong, it's wrong because the guy said he dropped his phone and he realized that when he picked it up it had a tiny crack with that said do you think it's right to rant on about a screen cracking while being in your pocket even though that's not the issue here? As I said in my first posts glass has weak spots and his phone even though it dropped on a carpet could of hit the weakest point on the cross sectional area of the glass causing the crack. Now I'm not defending Sony but collectively the ppl with this problem from the Z and I will thank you all for informing us Z1 users of your issues could easily say look there is a problem here in the UK with our Z's the screen is breaking on it's own then proceed to give the serial and imei numbers and then share the data and we could know if it was batch related or a sporadic thing. My thing is this I for one sympathize with you who suffered that fate but I don't like when it's broadcast as hate or an ongoing feud with Sony cause the majority of us haven't come to this forum for that here in the Caribbean for example when you ship a car made for Europe here let me tell you the interior will look like a rat's nest in months. The heat here causes the adhesive holding the mirror and interior design work to come off yet we don't go to BMW's forum's or any other forums and drag ppl who haven't experienced this defect into our misfortunes, I said that to say this. Until someone specifically states that there Z1 phone was in there pocket or on there night stand and the screen broke on it's own it didn't make sense dragging that topic into this forum as no one complained for that and as we can see the Z1 is built differently from the Z so give it time and if that problem does occur then you can rant about Sony's short comings but in the mean time just give the guy who suffered the crack screen some positive feedback not negativity. I often rant on here about Sony's aggressive post processing algorithms that makes they camera sub par to the competition because of the amount of noise and artifacts that appear in the pics and the detail lost as well so to call me or any other a sheep is distasteful and disrespectful I respect each persons point of view but don't call me names cause I can stoop to anyone's level and it's simple.

Thank You for your time and let's keep it positive.
