Jelly Bean Update 6.2.B.1.96 for the UK

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the 6.2.B.1.96 update has been fully rolled out yet. It's been two months now and I still haven't received it.

In particular I'm looking for the update for the SI 1257-3921-R3H (UK Generic)

I've emailed sony customer support a couple of times a few weeks ago. The first message they ignored and the second one, they sent a stock reply (written for Ice Cream Sandwich) that basically says it will be available when it's available.

I know I can flash the update, but I would like to avoid that if possible.

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered, but the battery drain since the 200 update is shocking.

I am in the USA and was not offered B.96 until I used Sony Bridge for Mac via USB. OTA phone checking for updates only offered .200.

I've checked on the Sony Update Service (whcih is the Windows version of Sony Bridge), PC Companion as well as OTA, but all are saying saying it's still 200.

I guess I need to be a bit more patient

I dont have it either, think i am the Same SI too, am on O2 and thread below indicates there are others out there, some in th UK and even on 02 have the update, but for some reason my unbranded generic doesnt. Getting very frustrated, and means likely going google nexus or HTC on update next year

The support for UK SIM free Xperia S has been a disgrace from start to finnish and the current .200 firmware is a shambles.

You cannot pick a keyboard you have paid for as the phone reverts to the poor Xperia effort by Sony and you cannot pick any icons for your prefered launcher because again the phone reverts back to the default set.

No still nothing.

I checked this morning with OTA, PC companion and Sony Update Service.

Its become a bit of a morning ritual, once I get into work. No biggie really as I need to plug the phone in to charge it up anyway.

I've never know a roll out to take this long.

They really take the mic, i gave my Xperia S to my wife back in January and i bought a Nexus 4 and the difference is startling, the Nexus just works which isnt too much to ask is it. Upsettingly my daughter bought a Xperia S after seeing mine so between us we feel like we have wasted over £800, a real shame as the Xperia S should have been amazing.

@UTO. I completely agree. The Xperia S should be amazing.

When I upgraded to the Xperia S back in April I was originally looking at the HTC One S. But with most of the networks discontinuing it and the Xperia S having a matching spec with a better camera, I went for the Xperia.

Although I've never been entirely unhappy with the phone, there are a lot of small issues with it that irritate me.

The power button is on the wrong side, some incoming calls are accidentally dismissed when taking the phone out of my pocket, inability to calibrate the keyboard. Nothing major, just annoyances.

I think the trouble is it has been a lot of small irritable things since day one unfortunatly. In fact the best ROM for it was the original 2.3 Gingerbread if i am being honest.

I've only know it of ICS and the bugged JB 0.200 update.

Just to let everyone know. I've checked for the update again on OTA, PC Companion and the Sony Update Service, still nothing.

I'll post here when or IF i get this update.

Sony seem to feel it nessessary to update SIM free phones last which given the user has had the highest intial outlay and is a direct customer of Sony and not of a network you would not have though this wouldnt be the case.

Same here. Got Xperia S on EE but still nothing. The battery drains so fast especially when using WI-FI and 3G which is pretty frustrating.

Sony is just a manufacturer and do not own any network in a country. All updates are launched through the networks within the country after they complete their testing and whether they are keen to put resources into it is everyone's guess. The best people to look into this should be the Media Authorities of that country, but then again what can they do?

Those of us who bought our phones SIM-free depend only on Sony for updates - nothing at all to do with our chosen networks.

The original .200 update became available for SIM-free users (via PC Companion/ SUS) in the UK about 4 weeks after it was released.

It is now well over two months since the .96 update was released and most of us are STILL waiting.

The long delay for people dependant on their network is excusable, but not for those expecting the update direct from Sony.

I'm from Austria/Hutchinson and the update arrived finally!!!

And the most funny thing is, that i waited for it for a long time and was so annoyed by it, that i ordered the Nexus 5 Today!:smileylaugh:
