hi... my laptop havin Windows 8. . when I connect my phone to my laptop. . its not detecting my phone.. I had installed pc companion but still phone not detected.. please reply

forget to say I hv downgrade my phone frm ICS to gingerbread due to phone hangin issue..

Enable usb debugging mode and reinstall PCC.After that,connect the phone through USB.

Thrs no option like usb debugging.. It was in ICS before but not in gingerbread now

Im havin two xperia u phone and problem of connectin is in both.. Both are gingerbread version

People said that it is hardware issue at the connecting hole for USB.

Connect your phone to your computer. Go into the control panel on your PC, system, device manager, do you see any yellow question mark or exclamation mark?

If so right click on it and select update driver and select automatic installation.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Windows media player which includes the MTP-driver.

If the problem persists, you can reinstall the Sony PC Companion or try on a different computer and see if it works there.

ya im usin data cable provided by sony... android version 2.3.7 ... I have installed pcc on pc. n last you said about usb connection mode , its showin Juat MTP there and written that "" this mode is normally enabled by default"" . there's npthin like mass storage mode.

I had right click on exclamation mark and tried to update driver but they showin " sorry windows can not find any driver"

@shahmanthan24 - Dont update the driver, remove the device completely and let Windows reinstall the device. It may be that it has installed it as an incorrect device such as a poratable music player which will occasionaly prevent a lot of functions from operating:

To solve the issue, open Device Manager on your computer to reinstall the driver for your device while your device is connected with your PC via a USB cable.

Microsoft Windows Vista and 7 users

To open Device manager on your computer

Click on the Start button.
In the Search box, type device manager, and then press enter.

Microsoft Windows 8 users

Method 1

To open Device manager on your computer

Click Windows Kept; BACKGROUND: white; VERTICAL-ALIGN: baseline; WORD-SPACING: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px">
Method 2

To open Device manager on your computer

Click the Desktop Tile to open the Desktop.
Click >> at the bottom right of the taskbar.
Select Control Panel from the Menu.
Select Device Manager from the list of control panel items.
Note: If you do not see the screen with the Device Manager option, click the View by drop-down menu and select Small icons.

Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 users

To open Device manager on your computer

On the desktop, right-click on My Computer and click Properties.
In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab.
In the Hardware, tab click the Device Manager button.

To reinstall the drivers for your device

Scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus controllers (USB section) of the Device Manager window.
Look for an MTP Device: Media Device, Unknown Device or any other reference to your phone. Click on this entry and choose "Uninstall" whilst leaving the device connected.
Wait a few minutes, and the computer will reinstall the drivers for the device.
Now, the phone is accessible via Computer/My Computer on your computer.

not happening... in usb section thrs nothn like mtp device or media player or anythn....im usin Windows 8... one driver appeared when disconnected phone and again reconnect. and I had uninstalled dt driver but aftr pc had reinstalled it by itself.. its still npt detecting my phone...
