Hi, I own an Xperia P devide running Android 4.1.2 and lately I noticed my battery drains faster than ever and triggering stamina mode won't make any difference, not even in the menu where it usually estimates 2-3 times better lifetime upon engaging stamina mode.

I have had a look over the battery use and this is what I have found:

I would like to know if there is any fix for this or if anyone else encountered this before?

On a separate note, I am the kind of guy who keeps his phone clean of any useless apps and always turns off any app from the task manager before locking the phone....which means I am sure there is nothing running in the background or for no reason.

Any help would be apreciated.

Given the nature of the problem the above recommendation is likely correct. However if this does not work I would strongly advise running an update/repair:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

@Alexdon

I have tried. It had no impact other than the fact that, overnight, it did not drain 45% anymore, just 8%. Still, the OS is the main consumer and that is not normal. Thanks though!

Note: I have been playing with it these few days since I had it reset and I had to do all my settings again etc..so the screen has been on for quite some time...

I feel like this is one of those things they intentionately do to make you buy a new phone

As far as I know and I used to experience this... The screen eats about 70-80% of the whole battery usage. This is the fourth day and the Android OS still catches up with the screen - it has been doing this all the time, even during the night.

Anyways, the phone still has warranty so I will send it over to have it serviced and hopefully they will let me know if there is anything wrong...

For me, it's normal to have 50-60% screen battery consumption. I have a wild guess to the answer to your problem. What is your network mode? Are you using GSM mode only? try to swtich over that and let me know the results. Thanks!

So, I have turned my phone in for service and I got an Xperia S in replace while mine is being serviced.

This one seems to have the same problem...... None of the phones would last throughout the day in this condition...

However, I have now switched to GSM only to see if there is any difference. Could you please tell me why would it make a difference? This one was set to WCDMA (preferred)/GSM - now it is on GSM only.

Observe your phone when it's on GSM mode compared to WCDMA, less consuming. See if the Android OS takes the largest contributor in battery drain. Let me know if there's an improvement. I think it would last differently compared to previous. I can say that based on my own experience.

Kind Regards
