Is the email account you have POP3 or IMAP4? To have marked as read synced you need to use IMAP.

POP3 does not support synchronizing the flag for marked as read so perhaps you were using IMAP previously? Is it Yahoo that you're using? They support IMAP as well: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&y=PROD_MAIL_MOBILE&page=content&id=SLN4075

I have the same issue.

To start, Ashrofts response is nuts, dont do it because it removes your mail accounts and yo have to set them up again.

I did not have thi sissue in the older version of s/w.

I did not have this on my previous or on any other smart phone.

I sync my phone with my POP mail account.

I have set 'Delete email from Server' to 'When I delete from Inbox'

It does this correctly for the first day or so, then things start getting hairy.

Delete an Inbox message on the phone (which means delete it on the Server) and th emessage count DOES NOT change.

Its a complete mess.

This is my fourth Sony or S/E Phone. Its my last unless they can correct this within my contract period.
