A few months ago I mentioned a white screen problem, well its sister phone bought at the same time has developed the ability NOT to accept incoming calls randomly. This has been happening for weeks without my knowledge but now I've found out.

Earlier today my phone was set down and received an incoming call perfectly normally but the person the other end had to call me back just 10 minutes later so we hung up and the phone was back in exactly the same place as before but when they phoned again it went straight to voice mail. The person calling me had to dial the land line to leave a message saying they couldn't get through. Now a quick search online seems to show this missed call issue is not rare at all and not even limited to just the xperia s.

Before anyone suggests it's the SIM, it isn't because that is fine, been checked in other mobiles.

What I want is answers and NOT the usual "take it to be repaired" comment that usually flies about I want answers as to why Sony phones are so dire compared to older phone.

Why should I even bother taking them in for repair, you lose all faith in the product when silly little things like this are happening WORLD WIDE

If I took the phone in for repair as often as it has failed I may as well not have the thing to begin with so PLEASE someone tell my WHY the quality is so bad these days and when is Sony going to get its act together because one thing for sure I don't see why I should buy another Sony with build quality this bad.

The phone turned on OK and had no problems at all, it had been up and running about 1-2 hours and was then later picked up only for the screen to have a broad white stripe running top to bottom. The phone was then turned off only for the stripe to reappear but with a white/grey flickering in the black area of the screen during switch on which then stopped. The phone has since been reset as well as the firmware reinstalled but no joy. The phone hasn't been dropped at all as it was resting on a cushion when the device went faulty. Any ideas anyone as to why this has happened? See picture. Screen rotation does not change direction of the band either, it still runs from the Sony Logo to the home button no matter how much i rotate the phone.

The screen is totally unusable, you can't see any image/icons at all. Even during start up as soon as the phone is switched on the white band appears, one thing i have noticed is that initial vibration when the phone starts does seem to be slightly longer than normal.
