Just got this phone and within 4 days, twice it has gone into such a mode where I see full signal from the carrier (Airtel/Vodafone etc), but I don't receive any incoming calls, nor I can make any outgoing calls. Others who try to call me get the message that it's either switched off or unreachable. And when I try to make an outgoing call, it just keeps on going forever without actually getting connected.

Have been using the phone for about 2 weeks now and almost everyday I've to reboot my phone to avoid it going into the above issue. If I don't reboot, automatically it goes into that dormant mode without my knowledge and no one is able to call me up unless I realize that myself.

Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior? Is this already a known bug with this model? Any help, please advice.

Thanks,

Sunil

Hi Pal,

I'm also facing the same issue w.r.t Xperia M Single variant mobile. After my own investigation I found out that the problem could be due to the frequency of the 3G network (India) or the phone manufacturing network specification.

We can't define it as phone defect because of following facts:

When I faced this problem I tried the below setting change and it worked for me.

When you're not able to receive calls (scenarios) :

- Immediate Hang

- Call swipe button hang

- Not able to hear the other end voice clearly

When you're not able to make calls(scenarios):

- Immediate hang

- No response from carrier end (Airt.// Re/// etc..)

- End user not able to hear our voice..

For all the above stated scenario, I managed to tweak the setting (simple one step) to make it work without rebooting the mobile phone.

Setting : Follow : Setting -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> GSM Only.

By setting the mode to GSM only we'' lose the 3G capability of phone but still I can assure the VOICE calls will work.

BTW, with the dual mode (WCDMA/GSM) there is no issue with respect to data (internet) and text messaging.

HTH !!

Cheers!!

I have got this m model today and from the time I inserted the SIM I have not seen network just a small red cross near the network and surprisingly I saw network. For a min after 8 hours. And that's it. I have tried to amend all settings and software update and the SIM works awesome on my other phones. No fluctuation at all. I think u people shud test phones better before its out in d market. And I have had the same issue with my previous Sony typo.

Hi @enano16

I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information like this:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/Backup-amp-Transfer/m-p/407253#U407253

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion:

http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need tocharge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP.

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone -> Start on Update the phone/tablet software -> Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) -> Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

If it's not possible to perform this software repair, you could check the following FAQ topic regarding USB connection problems:

/t5/FAQ/USB-connection-problems/m-p/348074

If it nothing seems to solve the problem, you have to consider visiting a sony service:

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

If my answer was helpful for you, please thank me with Kudos.

I'm at disposal for any question.

Best Regards,
