Do you have a full black screen or a black screen with android robot and a progress bar on the bottom?

Other Xperia L owners experienced this issue and update completed after a lot of hours (5-7)

Issue is most frequently when phone isn't in factory condition and full of apps (that could make conflicts) but could happen even with a brand-new phone.

So you can wait more time or try to unplug the battery and reboot

If android doesn't load after reboot you must repair firmware with pc companion

Normally it takes the same time of 40-45 minutes or less on both OTA and PC Companion. But I suggest you repair your firmware using pc companion. And then to avoid such problems try the update through the PC Companion. Contact if any problem occurs.
Don't forget giving kudos if you like the solution.
