Sony Xperia SP screen/ambient sensor not working

Hey guys,

Just got a brand new C5303 phone, and the screen does not adjust properly.
If I go out under the sun, cpuz will read 1023 lux, wich I suppose its the max limit, but the screen back light will not be at its maximum. For that, I need to activate the back light option. Any ideas on how to solve that?
That option to adjust automatically is on.

Try this -
turn off adapt to lighting conditions drag the slider to maximum brightness level now turn it on.

Not really. Now if I go to a very dark place screen will be too bright

This is a serious deal breaker for me. If theres no solution for it I may return it. My old nokia n8 does that all the time and it works perfectly.

This is an issue with Xperia SP and atleast I am living with this. I hope it will be rectified with the 4.3 update though I am in doubt.

We really do need the 4.3 update do we?And what if Sony postpone it until next year?That would really really really frustates us.

Well that... at least I bought it cheap, 310 obamas.

those buttons on the side are really sensitive, sometimes in my pocket the phone unlocks itself. Hoping a case will solve that.

How about using other Screen Security?Like a pattern or PIN code?That would solve the prob too.

I have a pin code, but it's set to lock only after 2 minutes.

It's like the screen, you either have the screen always dark or always too bright, here it's either not having to type the pin code all the time or having the phone unlock itself in my pocket. And the worse is that the volume rocker and camera button also unlocks the phone, not only the power button.

The simple stuff, Sony hasn't done. My 3 year old Nokia has none of those issues, but also doesn't have dual core cpu and etc.

Well thats bad,volume rocker unlocks the phone?Thats weird...I had never experience that before.

Yea me too.I previously had Nokia C6-00,got QWERTY keyboard.Types 400% faster than the Xperia SP.But in the downside it doesn't have GPU for 3D gaming 😕

I mean before the phone really locks, when the power button is pressed and the screen is turned off, if u press volume rocker or camera button it will turn itself on again, that's what happens to me

If the phone is locked pressing those buttons won't do anything (except holding camera button).

Nope. When I press the power button, the phone isn't locked, it just turns off the screen. 2 minutes later it locks by itself.

Before those 2 minutes, if I press volume rocker or camera button the screen is turned on. That's the problem, because that happens inside my pocket.

Ouh.Thats dangerous.As far as i can see,nothing that i can do except hoping that the 4.3 update will solve the issue.

Wait wait,i got the solution.First,go to Settings->Security->Tick "Power button locks instantly"
Hope it solves your problem.

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that doesn't really solve it, cause then I'd have to unlock the phone 500x per day, that's why I've got locking screen only after 2 minutes

Sorry my man,can't help you.I know that you need to unlock it frequently at the same time not unlocking it by accident Hmm,i think Sony might solve it in 4.3 update.
