Z1 Screen Won't Switch On

I've been quite happy using my Z1 for a couple of weeks, and all of a sudden yesterday, it won't switch on from being in standby mode. I know the phone is still working, as I hear when text messages come through, and the alarm still goes off, but the screen just won't come on.

The only way I've found to get the phone back on is to press the power key and the volume up key. This restarts the phone, and I can then use it again. However, the problem occurs as soon as it's been locked for a minute or two. Clearly, I can't (and won't) put up with this, and I need a proper solution - so, please advise what I can do!

The phone hasn't been dropped at all, I've not installed any new apps in the last couple of days, and I've not been fiddling with any settings, so I'm at a loss as to why this is suddenly happening.

Just a quick update - after trying to do a sfotware repair (as suggested by Sony) there was no change - the problem remained.

Following another chat with another Sony rep, they advised that it will need repair. So, given it's age (i've had it about 2 weeks) it's going back to the retailer for a refund.
