I’m not sure where you sourced this information from but it is incorrect. Running an update over the air with the phone, via PC Companion or using the Update Service does not void the warranty.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

It actually came from Sony Store.

The reason behind it is that the customer might not perform the update correctly and to avoid issues.

I don't understand why it'll void the warranty when it's just software.

if something goes wrong while using PC Companion or Sony Update Service, just start the whole process again and it will solve the problem, perhaps they meant to say if you "manually update your phone" (with flashtool) or if you flash a CustomROM?

That could be one but they said that the update may fail due to internet connection and battery charge so I think they're referring via the PC Companion.

Anyway, I'll clarify again next time and if it's still the same, voided warrant via PC Companion/SUS, then I guess I'll go with something else.
