Did you try to disable auto-adjusting?

What happens if you do that? Is the same thing happen when you play with "optimized backlight" option?

Hi, Owned the Z1 for a week now. Fantastic device so far.

Found a fault today with what I presume is an auto brightness feature. With the box ticked and after coming out of standby the screen is so dark I have to shine a torch over it to be able to get back into the settings menu to untick the box.

Ive done the diagnostic check on the light sensor. Reads zero with my hand over the top of the phone and up to 500 under light bulbs and nearly a 1000 in sunlight.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known fix?

I could also observe that "Adapt to lighting condition" feature is somewhat buggy! I had turned this feature when I was outdoor under the bright sunlight. It turned out to be nightmare for me, the screen just completely blacked out. After that nothing was visible even in indoors. I had to power boot my mob, which luckily restored to normalcy!!!

After this incident, I still wonder whether this handset has gone proper testing or this is an hurried release! It's a shame that after spending in premium, we have to deal with a buggy product!

This was on XXX.534 firmware.

It makes no change if the optimised backlight is active or not. Ive even done a repair using PC companion and still no different. It really isnt a massive issue for me personally. Im still getting really good battery life from the device (2 days with normal usage on average). It would be nice though for the adapt to lighting to work for times when I go from light to dark conditions.

Hopefully Sony will come up with a solution before too long.
