SBH 50 Software Update

Hello,

I tried to run the Software Update for SBH 50 Wireless Headset.

But the update Service Software doesn't recognize the device.

After plugging it into USB while pressing the back button the headset display shows:

1267-1720

1.1.A.0.7

But the update Software on the PC doesn't proceed.

What's wrong?

Have you tried connecting it to another USB-port on your computer? If your computer has both USB3 (blue ports) and USB2 (black ports) try using both.

When I connect my SBH50 to the USB cable of a PC (Windows7) while pressing the back button I do not see any version info on the disply of the device. Just an icon showing data connection.

When I connected the device the PC installed automatticaly some devices and then I managed to update the firmware using the software provided by Sony (version 2.13.13). No problem for me there.

I still don' t know how to view the firmware version on my device but if I try to re-upgrade it tells me that I already have the latest.

My problem is that the SHB50 application for android that I installed on my Xperia Z does not understand that the firmware has been upgraded and each time the device is connected to the phone it asks me to upgrade the firmware. If I choose to upgrade it starts the process and in a very short time it tell me the upgrade was sucessful. Still next time I get the same message!

Has anybody had the same issue?

I have just bough a SBH50 for my Xperia Z. I paired the device with the phone and installed the suggested application (the Sony SBH50 application). The application is nice, I can see the clock, who is calling on the SBH50 display as well as song titles from the walkman application.

The problem is that whenever I connect the SBH50 to the phone there is a pop up message telling me to upgrade the firmware to 1.2.A.11. This would be normal the first time....but even after I did the firmware upgade I still get the same message!

Of course you can choose not to upgrade but clicking "cancel" each time the device is connected is not fun.

I did the firmware upgade many times but nothing changed. I did the firmware upgade also from the PC application without the phone. Still I get the same message. The PC application now tells me I have the latest firmware but the SBH50 application does not understand that. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application....but stll the same.

Am I the only one with this bug?

It must be a bug in the application because the SBH50 device works just fine.

That sounds very strange. Have you also tried updating the phone and clearing data for Smart Connect under Settings -> Apps -> All?

I tested this here but this doesn't happen for me.

Problems with update too. Hard to say which app is wrong,

SBH50's Firmware ?

Android SBH50 ? ( with Smart Connect installed )

Windows Update service ?

Each time SBH50 connects with my Xperia X10, the android wants to update the Firmware.

I can't take a screenshot of the popup window so this is the text :

Version 1.3.A.0.2

Effectuez une mise à jour vers la version la plus récente du firmware pour obtenir le meilleur de votre SBH50.
Vérifiez les éléments suivants :

Raccordez votreSBH50 au chargeur.

Gardez votre téléphone et votre SBH50 à proximité.

If i "click" on [Update] the bar fills in, but not to the end. Instead, the SBH50 disconnects, nevertheless a popup window says "Update of Headset : Completed".

And each time SBH50 connects with the android device, this one wants to update the Firmware, again and again...

I have installed Update Service on my Windows 7 PC and done an update with it with no visible issue.

But the problem with the android connection still occurs.

In fact there are two Problems :

1 : This annoying popup window

2 : I still don't know if i have the newest firmware installed on my SBH50.

Ho, by the way, i can't use the microphone with my desktop computer, only my smartphone....

Very strange. I know windows audio parameters.

So much troubles with this SBH50, i'm disapointed...

By the way why the connection cookie expires so soon ? Can't you make last it just a little longer ? Just 24 hours. 48 hours would be so great, to avoid constantly re authentification.

The Settings --> Apps -->All -->Smat Connect (v 5.6.8.111) --> Clear Data suggestion did not helped.

I also tryed to uninstall the SBH50 application (and clear its data) and re-install it. Nothing.

After all these months ech time my SBH50 connects to my Xperia Z I get the message (from the SBH50 application) asking me to upgrade the firmware (to the same version I already have in my SBH50 device: 1.3.A.0.2

Perhaps issuing a new firmware for SBH50 would solve the problem!

Now that I took my SBH50 - XperiaZ for skiing it become more annoying as the SBH50 device disconnects with cold (when you ski down fast) and reconnects each time you stop. In a way you get sound notifications indicating extrem temperatures for free

Ok, i understand, the SBH50 was designed to not provide microphone service exept for phone call.

So frustrating that nothing specify this before i buy it.

I still have android app problem with the update who don't work.

Need fix for android app.

And i have definitely a problem too with Windows 7 connection. It seems the SBH50 can't listen the audio stream from Windows.

Because as i can hear nothing from Windows, i stil can use the play / pause commands... But no sounds. I have tried everything in windows audio parameters.

Sometimes SHB50 can listen. But i must switch off an switch on several times. And even like that sometimes i surrender after a dozen of attempts.

Need a fix for firmware.

Regarding connection to a computer this depends on the bluetooth software in your computer and what bluetooth profiles and features it supports. If you for example want to use the microphone in the headset from the computer your bluetooth software must support headset profile and/or handsfree profile. You bluetooth software should also create an audio device in your computer which you then select as default under Controlpanel -> Sound or in the application you use in the computer. There's not much we can do about this as it's all handled by your computers bluetooth software. The headset supports standard bluetooth profiles which then must be supported by the device you connect the headset to.
