The update is available in USA, but I had to connect to PC Companion to find that out. Checking the tablet's own Settings / About Tablet / Software Update gave me false report that there was no update available.

Hi all.

New Xperia Z WiFi owner here from Canada. I have had it one day.

After reading the comments by Soony I thought I'd load the PC companion software and give it a try.

So far everything seems great!

It's nice to have the more familiar android layout.

Chrome is working better, pages load faster and you can scroll immediatly and smoothly.

Also there is no little audio "drop outs" when the screen is rotated while playing any media.

All in all a nice upgrade!

Hi,
Just upgraded to 4.2.2 for the Wifi version (Sweden) and my first impression is that It's more stable, no apps jumping around when touching the edges, faster scrolling in Chrome, mic problem seems to be gone. Though, I'm very disappointed to hear from Sony that simultaneous Wifi and screen mirroring is not possible and if I had knew that it couldn' be fixed with a sw upgrade I would not have bought the device.

Is there any way to either downgrade back to 4.1.2 or put the soft buttons back in the corner? Having them in the Middle ruins the landscape experience for me. I'd also prefer the time and battery and notifications back how they where, the bar is now just eating up screen real estate that doesn't need to be.

Yes the upgrade made the tablet feal wrong like a realy big phone. I want thé old screen settings back i am not happy:'(

Agreed, not impressed with the new interface, especially the reduced screen space resulting from the extra black navigation bars. Everyone who is discontent please keep this issue at the top of the forum, we are the customers and should have a say.

Update for SGP311 is avaible from 28th in Poland too.

I did it. There is no my xperia in it.

Since the update on my WiFi 16gb tablet I am getting significantly slower web performance. My 2 year old smart phone loads twice as fast on 4g network. My speed test results are around 17mbps before and after android update. Some pagers that would load fine before now freeze. Battery performance is alot worse now and the layout is not right, it's not a phone and don't want a phone layout.
This has to get fixed or it has to go back.....bummed.

I really like the 4.1.2 interface, but I'm considering upgrading as I hope the upgrade will alleviate the 'phantom touches' problems. So I have to decide between less than optimal UI or phantom touches (assuming the new Firmware solves this - though it evidently doesn't in all cases.)
