I think that there is a problem with the hardware. It seems as if the motion sensor has not been assembeled in the proper direction as it should have been. I had this problem before but the motion sensor games used to work fine. The only problem was that when I used to hold the mobile straight in the vertical position it used to be approx 30% off. So, even for driving straight in the car racing game I had to hold it in a tilted position.

This problem became more evident when I installed 'Water level' app and saw that the axis was almost 30% off even when I kept it straight. The sky level option in this app also showed the same problem. This means that the hardware itself have not been put in the right alignment. Because even a slight mis-allignment would mean that the motion sensor would work differently. Not even the software update was able to solve this problem.

I had this problem solved when my Main board got replaced due to an irrepairable error. When I tested it, the motion sensor games were aligned perfectly. Even the Water Level app showed me the perfect allignment from all directions.

I would also like to tell you guys that motion sensor apps & games would continue to work perfectly but this problem would become evident only when you would compare the allignment with apps like water level.

So, I am sure that this is Sony's assembling fault. Which results in inaccurate data from these sensors. As you also can see that even when there have been so many comments & the thread has become preety old. Even then no 'administrator' or 'moderator' have answered or given his/her views on this issue. It's very clear that these guys know about this problem but they don't want to reveal it to ignorant & silly people such as you.

Autorotate works fine (in games, browser etc.).

Aino is not compatible with Walkmate app but the motion/tilt sensor works fine in games like LocoRoco.

I tend to think it is not accurate and maybe needs calibration. In the Water Level app it shows -6 instead of 0 when the phone is aligned (sits straight).

X=0, Y=0,. when putting buttom of mobile on the book X=0, Z=0;

it os too sensetive the 0 will became 64 or -64 with a littel tilt.

Same problem with accelerometer on mine. X shows -64 when stood vertical in service menu, although it only seems to change in increments of 64. Maybe that's to make it more readable as if X,Y & Z all changed by 1 on the display it might change too fast and be unreadable.

As a result of (un)calibration my Water Level application is off on all 3 axis and as such pretty useless. Sony can't have spent much time testing this as the help describes it as "Walter Level" !!

IIRC I once read a post somewhere which suggested all calibration data (not just for accelerometer) was stored in flash and I wondered if I could have lost this when using one of the non legit methods of debranding and upgrading firmware in the early days. I've susbsequently upgraded to R7CA061 using SEUS but still no improvement.
