See title. We haven't gotten the official update in Italy yet. Why, and when is it coming?

Also, the worldwide version installable via FlashTool has bugs, but I'm sure you know about that already. The bugs I found are the following, in order of annoyance:

1. Volume up button stops working randomly, and requires a reboot to make it work again once it "dies". This is extremely irritating. Needs fixing ASAP, for obvious reasons.

2. Videos stutter in 1080p, and no way to fix it, not even with third party video apps. Needs fixing ASAP, as this is one of the features advertised for this phone, it has to work.

3. Weird memory management. Lots of app redraws for no reason.

4. Home launcher isn't very smooth, "project butter" where?

5. Some widgets disappear after reboot, standard keyboard selection doesn't "stick" after reboot.

6. Google Voice input randomly stops working saying "I didn't catch that" after only a split second. Not sure who is at fault for this, but it's annoying. A reboot usually fixes this.

Is there a bugfix release coming? Please say yes, or I will be very disappointed in Sony Mobile as a whole.

I have experienced all of this problems and they have been reported many times here and on xda-developers forum. My hope was .211 update but it seems to solves nothing for me so I was forced to revert to ICS in order to have more bug free firmware. The strangest thing is that the low end Samsung Google Nexus S (1GHz single-core CPU, 512MB RAM) runs Jelly Bean more smooth than the mid-range Sony Xperia S (1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM). Even the animation in Nexus S is more cool and complex IMHO (see this video and hopefully you'll get the point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaYeCStUXfs).

So what we do here Sony?

Sony released ICS in June 2012 and it is not until November 2013 did they upload the final .55 firmware that comes with minimal bugs. Hope that this upcoming firmware update next week will bring at least some fixes.

I think Sony is trying to give a slightly better support.

Just to let you know that I have running a UK generic Xperia Z on 434 the most uptodate firmware available to UK gernic or unbranded phones. It has all these faults for a couple of months; the only solution to them is to switch the phone off and reboot but they reappear within a few minutes. THe worst is the voice search not working, and unkown error in video camera essentially the phone microphone will not work at all! Lots of post on these bugs. I have been in contact with Sony Customer Support in the UK, since the begining of June and they have not been helpful at all. Their advice was to reinstall the phone's software via PC companion which I did but it did not resolve the issues. I then pointed out that there were a number of people on this site and on other sites on the internet complaining of these faults and that they all share one common deniminator they had generic or unbranded UK Xperia Z phone that run firmware 10.1.A.1.434 and that when you update or repair your phone in the UK that is the firmware installed as it is the only one availble to us. Sony then after some emails did a volte face and admitted that the faults are known faults that have been "rectified in an upcoming firmware release". I asked which one and they did not say and they could say when the next firmware release was coming except the "near future"; but gave no timeframe ie within the next 4 weeks etc. I am complaining to UK Trading Standards as the phone is defective and not fit for purpsoe I paid £540 for a "smartphone" and I bought it from Sony Mobile direct who just ignore problems. Apart from WhatsApp I am running the phone with no apps other than factory apps which are all up to date. I asked to speak to a customer service manger and they refused. Not happy complain to the customer support in your country in email that way you have a record. Sony you need to sort this out. Tom

Sympathize with your situation in UK but it seems UK don't seems eager to release updates for Sony phones. Been reading a lot that UK owners irregardless of generic or not don't get updates as often. GSM Arena announced that XZ 4.2.2 had started rolling out globally yesterday, don't know when you people will get it in UK. Anyway, suggest you don't use PCC but SUS instead. PCC writes over your old firmware but SUS wipe it out to load the new firmware in whole. After SUS installation, do factory reset and clear out internal men. You will have to reload everything from scratch but I think it's worth the effort.

Thanks for the info Bearings but even SUS did not work, I just tried, it installed the same 434 firmware. The IMEI for the phone must identifiy it as a UK generic and as such will only install 434. What kills me with this situation is that Sony are (a) are not giving any helpful advice and have given contrary advice to different people (b) are just ignoring problems I see lots of others have had these problems for nearly 2 months which is terrible. A smartphone without a properly working microphone or working video camera? I see the Xperia Z is now being heavily discounted in the UK; I wonder why?
