WIFI loses connection without reason.

Just bought a Xperia tablet Z and am having problems with remaining connected to my WIFI. Initial connection is good and shows good signal strength and works as normal. Periodically the WIFI then disconnects and shows "authentication problem" against the network and needs a manual connect to regain the connection. I dont have to re-type the access key.

I have many other devices connected to the WIFI during this period all of which work fine. WIFI analysis shows good signal strength and acceptable signal to noise ratio. Looks like a bug in the firmware to me. Any assistance would be good.

Andrew, do you have Bluetooth turned on and something hooked up to it?

I have similar problems when I have a mouse or a keyboard paired.

Please let me know, I started a topic about this but so far nobody replied, so I am on the hunt for other Z users who can try this out and give some feedback.

Hi, I can confirm that Bluetooth is disabled.

Unfortunately then I can not help.

My tablet works just fine on my WiFi network and I have also lots of other devices running.

This looks like all the basic checks which have already been completed. Like I said other wireless devices work ok during the Xperia blackouts. Its most definatley a fault with the tablet and is becoming increasingly frustrating.

well since that other thread had more to offer in terms of information and trying things. To update you guys i have sent back my original and received a new replacement. It does the same thing.

Just like user "Soony" said it probably would. Its obvious they are watching as they locked that other thread. I am disappointed that though they are watching they are not saying anything.

!!! THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING SONY!!!

I've got exactly same problem like You. It doesnt matter bluetooth off or on .

Just to update my original post (on the other thread linked on p 1), my replacement tablet has been connected for about 20 hrs now and it has dropped the FIFI signal only once (even signal reception is not very strong in comparison to my Samsung Galaxy III phone).
I don't know if it is of any benefit, but I have also installed this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bosscellular.wifi.boost

I also have had constant wifi drops. Spent several hours. Experimented with my router options (nothing helped). Finally I was pointed to some "Smart connect" app that looks like preinstalled on Sony devices. I first tried to clear data on this application and reboot, but this did not help. Next step was to force stop it and finally I see stable connection!

You may try to stop this unsmart "Smart connect" application and see if this will help

Just to add some info here.

My first Z was loosing connecton. I sent it back and received my second new Z, which did the same thing. Just for kicks, I swaped out my Netgear WNDR3700v2 router (which is one of the better ones netgrear makes) with a much lower cost Medialink MWN-WAPR150N wireless router.

Its been over a week now and it has not lost the Wi-Fi connection once.

Both routers were in the exact same location, FWIW.

I was having an issue with wi-fi connection, and I've found switching stamina mode off fixed it.

SONY, Hello????? WHen is the update fix comming???

I have been using WPA2-PSK as the connection method. Which has been droping connection.

My daughter bought an iPhone and it was dropping connectins as well. Today i thought what if i try a different conneection method, so i switched to WPA-PSK, and so far both devices seem to be ok.

I just transfered a 4 gig video file to the Z, and it did not drop out. Previously with WPA2-PSK connection this would have been impossible becuase it would not have stayed connected long enough to send it.

try adjusting your router settings, increase dhcp lease time by 10x worked for me.

could you please tell us what your initial setting was?

It makes no sense to me what DHCP lease time has to do with this problem.

Please correct me if someone else has seen a positive effect by doing what bigspud suggested.

My DHCP is on 7 days, so I do not see why 70 days would make a difference.

(I don't know if I can set it to 70 days)

Fortunately, except when bluetooth is on, I didn't have any wifi connection related issues since I've got the tablet.

I've used it both at home, away thethered through my phone and at the occasional free wifi when going out.
