Emails not coming through

I have my email frequency set to every 5 mins but the emails are only coming in when I go into the email envelope. This is a work phone. My own phone is an iphone so I may not have set it up properly....? Phone is only 2 days old. I understood that the phone would make a noise and the emails would be in my notifications bar..? Any help appreciated

do you have the stamina on? do you have an antivirus? has it synced any emails? open the email app > menu > settings > notifications.
