As regards the UK...XDA sums it up nicely...

Now I promised I wouldn't discuss the .253 firmware further - but...

IF Sony are releasing a later version - and have decided to forego the .253 update for the UK - why oh why oh why didn't Sony just tell us?

When are companies going to realise that silence simply annoys their customers?

Amen. I'm in the market for a new tablet, and while the form factor of the XZ is very attractive, the way the company goes about releasing updates is deplorable. Hence, I've scratched that model off my list of candidates.

I in the uk got my Z last week got 253 via Pc Companion, and got 307 today via Pc Companion, I'am with Vodafone.

These are the improvements in the 307 firmware, I got it from a guy in xda developers:

1. Improved camera load speed
2.camera takes better pictures in lower exposures
3. HDR now works a lot better
4. Wifi range is improved, as is reception in general.
5. Speed dial settings

Are you unlocked/SIM only or on a 18/24 month contract. I'm too with Voda but haven't had any kind of update OTA or in PC companion - mine still has .434

Well done sony. You said End of march we will get Android 4.2 and we have still 4.1 LOL WTF?? Even some of the users didn't get .253 update which anyway is 4.1. Shame. I think most of us will change their mobiles to brand which treat promise as promise and care about customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought this mobile 5.03.2013 and still waiting. I know I can flash rom from xda but is not about that. They should release original ROM. Again well done Sony.

Well, it's really not new. Nokia was slow on getting out the latest Symbian3 releases, samsung customers are complaining about samsung beeing slow, sony customers are feeling that sony is slow and probably all other customers too. I have a friend having a google phone that thinks google is slow on the latest official releases and they are expected to be the fastest to release stock andriod. (I think samsung beat them on some jb release, but I'm not sure about the details)

I think it would be really good for companies to have someone from their development blog about what's happening and perhaps beeing able to answer a few questions from cutsomers directly from the development crew.

Or another approach, have some news reports from inside the android software development department where they tell a bit about how they are actually working, if they are reading these forums, what's in the future and so on. Some tech news papers/blogsites would be good targets.

Yeah i agree but my point is that they promised and we spend about £500 to get device which will be upgraded ''soon''. If they will say ''We will upgrade Xperia Z in next few months'' probably less of this mobile owners be complaining nd also yes they should say more about what they doing. Im sure they will lose customers becouse of their promises which never comming on time.
