Lo and behold!

The update has fixed the wifi vs Bluetooth issue for me.

I really was convinced that it was a hardware issue.

Sony :

1) Thank you for adding value to my Tablet

2) Why not admitting that there is a problem and you are working on it?

Really telling me that you can not see the problem, bring it in , we will replace it .... why? just playing games and increasing my frustration.

Well, the past is the past, the tablet works as I was expecting the first time and I can kiss the RF dongle and keyboard goodbye.(I brought that when the Bluetooth keyboard did not work together with wifi)

Now my initial question is answered (Not when you said it )

I tried but wasn't able to replicate the issue on my Tablet Z. And it seems that no other user have replied saying that they have the very same issue. I therefore suggest that you contact your local support team to have this examined at a repair center because you should of course be able to use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections at the same time. Even though I have seen cases of these two disturbing each other since they tend to run on the same frequencies but BT shouldn't be able to completely block Wi-Fi or vice versa.

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/contact-info/

I just received my Z tablet and am having the same problem with bluetooth interfering with wifi. I have an Anker bluetooth keyboard and whenever it's on, my wifi disconnects.

Also, with bluetooth off, the ping time is very long, about 44 ms average using the FING Network application to ping my router via WIFI. My Kindle Fire in the same location with the same app has an average ping time of 4 ms.

How can I resolve these issues?

Thanks,

Dave

I asked the hotline for advice but I didn't get any help respectively they pretend not to know about the problem. Finally I returned the tablet.

Hi Stephan,

no not any news other than that I can reproduce this problem.

It looks it is a problem when the Bluetooth device is bidirectional (means does send and receive) I have no problem with headphones, however I have not tried headsets. I will try this weekend and see how this goes (Skype would be a good testcase).

I believe that if more Xperia Z tablets are sold (Which is a good thing) some users will encounter this problem when they want to use blootooth keyboards, Mouse, etc.

Just because not many of use try to use it as a more professional tool does not mean that the problem does not exist.

No punch at Johan but I have some doubts if he really gave it a thorough test.

Bluetooth is working just fine, the effect is that the WiFi gets slowed down and in some cases even disconnects or gets time outs.

One other comment

You don't know what you miss, this tablet is awsome and I learn every day something new about it which relly distinct it from the pack.

I have an IPad and compared to it Sony's tablet is rock and roll !

Everything I was missing on the IPad, Sony has it.

Maybe they can not fix the problem on the Z but I am a hot candidate for the next generation.

The sound system is just breathtaking ,expandable memory, USB connection, HDMI.... I can go on and on...not to forget that my IPad feels like it is filled with lead compared to the Z.

thanks for your response... a lot of stuff to go over there... and i will check my network signal strength and channel... but just wanted to throw in:

- i haven't yet attempted to connect the bluetooth keyboard & mouse from a different house with a different wifi network yet... i'd assume unelss the next wifi network has issues too, it shouldn't be a problem elsewhere if it's my network, right?

- my galaxy s3 i use all the time to stream music over wifi and stream out to a bluetooth jambox speaker. so the s3 obviously doesn't have this wifi + bluetooth issue at home...

edit: and one other thing, I just installed a wifi signal analyzer and it pretty much fluctuates between -40 and -60... this is on my phone though, not the tablet, but i'd imagine signal strength is signal strength, regardless of what you're reading it from...

Hello,

point 1 : it would be a good experience to try this in different networks, as you said if you have the same problem in different networks, this would point in the direction of an Xperia problem

point 2 : electromagnetic interference is an awkward thing : under different conditions (e.g. other Wifi channel, other antenna position, other electromagnetic sources) the Xperia might perform better than the Galaxy - if the Samsung would perform in most circumstances better than the Xperia, this would point again in the direction of an Xperia problem

point 3 : a level between -40 and -60 dBm is an excellent level, however if too many Wifi networks would use the same channel, this situation still can lead to a bad performance, so check this out

Regards

Let's put it the other way around :

Dear Sony, I recently bought a Wifi 32Gb tablet Z. For professional reasons, I need to browse the internet with an external wireless (presumably bluetooth) keyboard.

As I can't find a list of compatible accessories on the web, let me ask the following question :

Which model of external keyboard can I use to browse the web on my Tablet Z ?

Thanks beforehand,

Michel

Edit August 8 : I've asked the customer service by mail. I got the automated replay and then...nothing (6 weeks now)

I just discovered this problem today. Bought my Experia Z about a month ago. Decided to do a Google search for the problem. Imagine my surprise when my Google search screen is filled with lots of folks having the same issue. No, it is not my home network, since so many other folks have the problem.

Only the tablet is common to all of us. I don't have this problem with my iPad or my S3 using the same network and the same wireless keyboard. Only happens on the Sony.

If they don't fix it soon, it is going back in the box and back to Best Buy. This is a deal breaker for me.
