I just switched from iPhone to Android, so I'm not sure if this is an iPhone only feature, but is there an option to have my incoming text messages to preview on my lock screen? Currently my my phone vibrates/chimes once when a text is recieved - the phone doesn't light up/have any visual indication of a new message, etc.

Also, is there an option to set my phone have reminders/alerts so that if I miss the incoming text message the first time my phone will vibrate/chime several more times so that I may catch it subsequently?

I currently cannot find the settings for these 2 features, and they are 2 huge holes in the android/xperia software and a real inconvenience/disappointment.

One last question, does androd have a bbm/imessage equivalent where you can see when your text is delivered and read by the recipient? Is that what the "Delivery report" option is for? Because I activated it and noticed no change.

I found the message settings discussion the user guide and FAQ for the Xperia ZL to be too brief.

Thanks!

Jacqueline

firstly welcome to Android!

will try to provide you assistance. Although im using the Z i suspect the behaviour would be quite similar.

1. incoming text msg preview.

if you are on the default lock screen ( and using default swipe to unlock) you can swipe down on the notification bar. This will show you a message preview.

2. reminders/alerts/notification when receiving new messages

in your message app, tap the top right icon that looks like 3 dots and choose settings.

you can tick the options for notifications in status bar, notificaiton vibration and notification light. That should at least prompt with a led light when you get new msgs. Not aware on stock if theres any way to set repeated reminders tho

3. delivery/read report

via stock sms apps, i think you can only set the delivery report. this means when the server sends the sms it will notifiy you it has been sent. ther is no read report im afraid.

there is a "notification LED" if you get a sms/mms it will flash white, if it's facebook it will be blue, whatsapp and other apps allow you to choose the color.

for the second part you can check the playstore for an app that will do so. those are not "holes" but preferences.

use Whatsapp, it will tell you when the message its sent and read.

Don't forget to mark the Correct Answers & Helpful Answers

Delivery report can be activated in message setting. You'll get a mark on top left corner on the messages you sent.

This phone has notification led. Which blinks when you get message provided you are not in stamina mode.

can set the different colours for different apps using a app from play store.
