Xperia SP Display Problem!

All SP owners please check this in your phone as well.

I'm having problems with my sp's display when the phone is kept on horizontal surface.

In the video, phone is kept on the bed and i'm trying to use it. But you can see the screen just misses the touch 😕 I wonder why.

This only happens when the phone is kept horizontally.

Ps: screen guard is not the problem since I checked with 2 different guards and phone works perfectly in hands.

PS2 > The screen works fine while phone is put to charging.

Found another similar video. This only happens when kept on a table or a bed.

I have the same problem on my Xperia SP White (CZ, SK, version).

When the phone is in the horizontal surface and I'm touching the the screen the phone don't respond the touch. That's very bad ;(

i know it's bad and i hope it's just a software glitch,

anyways have you tried testing while charging ?

I tried it with USB plugged to PC - charging. And now it works perfect I think. Strange 😕

i think it's limited to a few devices or else many users would have posted the problem. i still haven't got the time to do a software update. have you done it ?

I try to describe the probem with display on my device.

When the phone is on the horizontal surface and I don't touch the metal edges and then I would like to touch the screen the display don't respond the touch sometimes.

But! When I do the same with touching the metal edges and with other hand I try to touch the screen, the display respond the touch without any problems.

slimshaddy, if the screen works fine while the phone is put to charging, then I guess it's caused by software bug/glitch? have you tried to restart the phone?

Hi, I just tried to recalibrate the G-sensor and it seems that the display issue is gone !

I did it with app "GPS Status & Toolbox" from google play.

I just searched on google. Numerous phones have similar problems. Some said it's related to static energy, capacitance etc.etc. Didn't get a solution.

I am from INDIA. i bought this Xperia SP last month. Was impressed at the first moment but later on now after a months use and some official updates it is behaving crazy with the touch screen not responding randomly.

Please look into this problem as soon as possible. I have even shot a video just to remind the worst experience i could expect from a company like SONY.

Hi @slimshaddy @ZdendaF,

I accidentally stumbled upon this problem of touch not responsive.

I had previously disabled the glove mode in settings (unchecked Settings->Display->Glove mode). After disabling the glove mode, I started experiencing the problem.

As a workaround, I enabled the glove mode (selecting Settings->Display->Glove mode). I didn't experience any touch issue after enabling this glove mode. The touch is working as expected.

I'm not sure whether your problem is also for the same reason of disabling the glove mode in settings. Anyways, you can give it a try and see whether it works

It is a little bit strange that this Glove setting is impacting the regular touch performance.

@ZdenandF, try enabling the glove mode in settings menu. It is located under (Settings->Display->Glove mode). I was able to solve this problem after enabling glove mode.

You can give it a try and let us know the result

Me too facing the same problem, I thought while charging because of bad connector it must have been happening, but after checking this post I tried it again without charging also and its same. Sony we expect some reaction from you people to solve this.
