Update Problem Help??

I am trying to update my phone the way that i have been told. ive downloaded the PC Companion and go to update its all fine untill it asks me to turn the phone of at the prepare stage. i hold the back button while pliging it back in but it dont work. my battery is full and i have followed all the stages as they ask but it just sticks at the prepare stage with the pictures up showing what to do.

Is it ment to stay up or am i missing someting?

I have the same problem. After update, I don't conect my smartphone to my PC. Show me this message "USB Device Not Recognized". My SO is Windows 7.

Plug the USB cable into your computer.

Hold the back button down before plugging the USB cable into the phone.

While still holding the back button, plug the cable into the phone.

Totally agree with you. its not working at all. Same problem.

You can hold the back key before connecting the cable or after, does not metter. Its not detecting the phone hence not giving the option for Next. On the other hand PC companion software detect the phone straight away.

Is there anyone who will help me

I hold down the back button connect USB the a msg appears found new hardware carnt remember what it says it is but then the PC hangs on installing the hardware tried unitalling and reinstalling several time but have always the smae result OS win XP sp3

I have posted to this effect on other threads, so forgive me if you have read the advice before...

When the first round of updates came out, 016 to 023 I tried OTA and PC Companion. They both told me I was up to date. Tried via SEUS which let the update go thru fine.

When next update came out, 023 to 026, I tried again with PC Companion... up to date, so then tried with SEUS but my phone would not start in boot mode, ie with back button down and usb attached. Nothing I did worked.

I then tried on my son's PC and it went thru no problem at all. I have given the advice many times to people to use a different pc and have had positive feedback from some. So beg/borrow from friends or family to use their PC/laptop for half an hour and give it a go.

If it does work for you, please post back on here that it does because its always useful for other people who are looking for solutions to the same problem.

Actually in my work computer does not work, tried all possible ways, but all without success. On the computer in my house worked, thank God.

I hope that soon the Sony Ericsson sent us a final settlement. Hug.

how do i leave the "prepare" stage and do some actual "update"???

be glad it doesn't work for you. When I did update just a few hours ago, the phone had successfully updated but it wiped off everything. It was like I switched it on for the first time. I have to reinstall everything I had :'(

This is why it is so important to back up your personal information. I would exhort anyine reading this to do so immediately, in case they ever have to reset their phones...

so what did you do exactly ?

after you turn off the phone and wait for 5 seconds, did you turn it back on? or you just hold on to the back button and plug it back to the usb?

i m so confused that i might break the phone soon.

ARGH, what did i do wrong???
