Otherwise head over to the device manager and manually assign the drivers from the PC Companion drivers folder.

I have problems connecting my phone to the pc (Win8, x64) via USB: "Common" things like media transfer are working but when it gets to updating or reparing the phone via PC Companion or SUS I can't connect it anymore: Connecting the phone and pressing <VOLUME down=""> as it needs to be done when updating results in a error message [German original text]:</VOLUME>

"USB-Gerät wurde nicht erkannt. Das letzte USB-Gerät, das an diesem Computer angeschlossen wurde, hat nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert und wird nicht von Windows erkannt."

the equivalent english error message would be: "USB Device not recognized: One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it."

Although the device can be connected in order to transfer data I suspect some sort of driver problem.

Does anyone know ways to connect the phone properly again?

edit: it has to be a problem linked to Win8 x64. Connecting to a Win7 PC causes no problems
