Hi,

My new Xperia Z will not hold the wi-fi network I select the network I want and then after a few seconds it selects and logs onto a different network, dropping the connection and resource I was using.

I have multiple wi-fi connections, they are all set up correctly with individual channels correctly set, all my other equipment works fine.

In fact I set my old SG2 next to the XZ and logged both onto the network I wanted after 10-15 seconds the XZ had logged onto another. Indeed I watched it every few minutes log onto one of the other available networks - the SG2 did not deviate from the selected network.

What's going on here and how do I stop the XZ "roaming" between wi-fi networks?

Best Regards

Mark Z

I would advise running a repair on the phone as this is not normal. The handset should only roam to another network if it is setup as well and has the stronger signal.

To repair the phone software
1. Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
2. In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
3. Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
4. Click repair phone.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

Thanks Sam. Is it normal to have to run a repair on the phone so soon. It only arrived on Friday!

I'm also running Mac's here so I'm using Sony Bridge for Mac.

Is it possible to make the "repair xperia device" automated I.E. back up all the contents of the phone prior to repairing and then restoring? having to do the three steps seems an outdated approach.

My first issue is that the Sony bridge software is very slow, it takes ten minutes or more to retrieve the Xperia information and much longer again before the option to back up the phone becomes enabled.

Well I'm going to give up on this tonight 30 minutes and its still not allowing me to backup the attached screen shot shows status.

This is all very frustrating, strikes me the Xperia Z is a great phone but let down by niggly problems and poor PC Software.

This is taking too long - I'll try again tomorrow
