Xperia Z Wont update

Hello!
I just registered to this forum, but I have been checking it since the beginning.

I've got a problem updating my Xperia Z.

I followed all steps that Sony PC Companion told me to do, but i keep failing.

I've got to shut down my phone- Wait for 5 seconds -Plug the USB in while pressing the volume down button.

When I try the last step the LED goes Red/green really quick, and after that just nothing happens.

I also get a notification (translated) If you fail updating, don't worry! just begin again @ step 1.

I have tried it like 5 times, but it wont succeed,

Remove the phone from the cable and then hold down the on / off button and volume up until you feel a vibration in the phone, start up the phone and turn it off. Try again in PC companion.

Please note that you need to hold down the volume down button until PC companion is starting the update process.

You can also try another USB port on the computer and see if that makes a difference.

Let us know if you still have problem with the update.

try inserting the usb pin, whileyou hold the volume down key(i.e. after the phone is unplugged and powered down).

I've tried updating on another PC now and the update installed itself.

The problem is solved now.

Also, i would like to know what the update contained.

i did not get any information about what the update included. I Have not mentioned any changes.

i am having the same problem on pc and mac. when starting update when it says initializing the phone will power down and not update :@

Hi,

I have the same problem with the update. i tried you advise, the phone make a short vibrtion as you saied but than i hold the buton presed for a minute with no result. PC companion searches for the phone but doesn't found it.

Please add futher help!

you can have your phone switched on when doing the update since program should reboot your phone for you into it's correct mode so it can install the update so give that a try if other way does not work

is your phone a locked bootloader or unlocked bootloader? if you unlocked it then that would wave your warranty, just asking this to see

mu phone is unlocked.

I manage to do the update by using diffrent computer, sems that this problem is a computer problem with old software , not a one caused bu the phone!

I tried to update my phone.
But it didn't install completely.
It will just take not more than a minute and then will just turn on.

Same here.. any solution you found? when i update via Bridge for mac its stuck on 'geting device connection procedure'

I tried doing all that is mentioned here and still my the PC Companion won't start the process. I have xperia M. Is there any other way round? I have already repeated the process six times, and yes, I held the volume down button till 3-4 minutes. But still the update did not start. And that power button + volume up button thing does nothing on my phone. Please help!

Hey I have a similar problem on a Z5 premium it downloads over the WiFi takes hours then gets to 98% stops and starts the full down load again and I can't get Sony Companian to update it for me either
