Notification light and microSD problems

Hey everybody,

I have bought this Xperia L two days ago and I am really enjoying this nice phone. I have encountered two big problems though.

First the notification light. I had a problem at first that it didn't work for notifications(the lights for charging, themes, walkman, album all worked properly). After googling I found out that the problem was in the stamina mode, turning that off fixed it for me. But after a day of use I discovered that I only got white-ish notification lights for every app notification. Whatsapp, messages, gmail, hangouts, all the same. It's not exactly white (more green-white-purple-ish), but the problem is that it is all the same. Whenever I choose a theme or start charging I see the full colors.. Why can't I have this for my notifications. To fix this I already tried fiddling with my stamina settings, factory reset, using SUES to re-install the latest update.. Nothing seems to work. When I used the app Light Manager from the appstore, the test function all showed the same white-ish led for all the led colors.

So I guess my question is: Is this normal? Can it be fixed? And if so: how do I fix it?

The second problem I encountered is the Xperia L's inability to use my Transcend 16 GB class 10 microSDHC card. I've seen another post from someone with a 32 GB Transcend class 10 card with the same problem. It reports as "The SD card is blank or filesystem unsupported". My guess is that this phone has issues with class 10 or transcend cards. I do not really expect a solution for this problem, other than to buy another microSD card.

I hope my issue with the notification LED can be explained and fixed.

Hi!

I have the same issue!

The notification light is only white for aplications. But other colors are availables when charging

Is it normal?

No, I don't think so. In the user guide it mentions:

"A notification light also gives you battery status information and some notifications. For example, a flashing blue light means there is a new message or a missed call. The notification light may not work when the battery level is low."

So it seems to me that our phone isn't working properly. I already contacted chat support, they confirmed the issue with class 10 cards that some Xperia phones are having. For.the LED issue they advised me to do an update repair in SUS, but that didn't work for me, so the guy I was chatting with told me to go back to the store and have it sent for repair. Since I own the phone for only 5 days I'm trying to get refund/another device.

I see that when someone is calling me the led is blue...when it notifies the missed call the led is white...

Hey, noticed the same thing! It could be that this phone only notifies in white LED.. which would be a shame. But I'm not really sure anymore if this is a problem that could be fixed by sending the phone to repair, I don't really like the outlook of losing this awesome phone for a few weeks. (According to shop reviews, the shop I bought my phone isn't too eager about replacing/refunding and rather send devices back for repair..).

I'll open another thread asking if the notification LED is always white for this device, as I already encountered another individual with the same problem as ours http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42051557&postcount=20

Let me know if the update repair fixed anything for you.

Illumination bar from the play store seems to work, kind of! It definitely doesn't seem like a hardware issue to me at the moment.

We have to be more patient...

But it's strange that the orignal configuration of the phone doesn't do things that can do!! Or is supposed to do!!

Do you tink Sony it's going to "solve" this issue?

I hope so!

I think it's better different notificatin light colors than only the white one!

that is indeed normal, if you want to use different colors you need an app for that, there are certain apps such as whatsapp that allow you to select the notification color, fb is blue, etc.

Even if I select purple in whatsapp, the notification will be white. The same with sms replacement apps. Only while using the illumination bar app it changes to the desired color.

Jup. I did encounter the issue that my notification light stopped working with stamina mode on. After turning it off and rebooting the light came back. I tried factory resetting, restoring the update in SUS, but both with no avail. Several LED changing apps all didn't work, when a color was selected, the LED would still be white. Illumination bar let it change color, a XDA-user made a video about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42083281&postcount=25

I contacted Sony via chat support, they told me to do the update restore and if that fails, to send it for repair. But it doesn't seem like a hardware issue to me, don't really want to waste time sending my device and getting it back in 2-6 weeks without anything changed.

It seems to me that Sony 'forgot' implementing the proper code to use the illumination bar as notification light, the same as they 'forgot' small apps for the Xperia L. (Source: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/476433#476433 )

I can live with it though, I do hope that there will be a fix in the future.

Stamina Mode OFF and the LED allways is white...:smileyconfused:

I have another question...with Stamina Mode On...which is the app that needs to be ON if I want to have colour LED notification ON!!!????

I don't know.. I read about the same problem for other devices with stamina mode.

I use Qualcomm's Battery Guru for now, to try and prolong battery life. I can't comment on the effects since I only have used it for a day, but the description is promising. And it doesn't break your notifications
