I am on 434 and I did all the steps suggested by Alexander as that was what Sony Customer Support UK initially suggested I do. I then explained to Sony Customer Support UK that a lot of people have this problem see the XDA website and Sony then said in an email which I have that the problem was a "known firmware issue which had been addressed in a future update" This bug has since gone but microphone issues still remain ie static noise on video camera.

Are you on firmware 434? Does switching your phone on and off temp. fix the problem? Also are you having problems with voices search etc? I am on 434 and have these probs; the video camera pauses for 2 secs and says "unknown error" and crashes. Sony have said that the video camera problem is a known bug to them and is addressed in a future firmware update. I have nw idea which one as they would not say but will have been addressed in one of the firmware releases since 434

I suggest that you try to clear data for the camera. Go to settings > apps > the tab all > camera > clear data. Then try to restart phone by press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time.

If you still experience problem I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/update
