Xperia Z - Error Ocurred During Tethering

I can't get tethering working, when I turn it on i get a message 'an error occurred during tethering' i can still connect my laptop to the phone's wifi hotspot but only get local access..

I am on Ornage UK

Yes they support tethering

Yes mobile data is switched on

Anyon got a clue? There seem to be a lot of people on Sony Xperia phones with the same problem ???

Having same issue. Since last update. Man I hate updates that make things not work anymore.

Actually it shows the error ''Error occurred during tethering''. I don't even know how this has been overlook, they just had to activate the tethering and the error will pop right up no matter what. No wonder the lollipop on Z/ZR/ZL is filled with bugs.

I have this problem and see this error when i turn on hotspot or during using shareit or zapya ( sharing apps with hotspot). Is this problem because of 5.1.1 update? Does it solve on next update? When does it come? What can i do sony!? (device : z3)

Hi I'm having the same problem, I get 12gb to use a month the for portable hotspot data, I have xperia m2 and whenever I activate hotspot it say " error during tethering, I don't no what happened I updated my phone a few hours ago to 5.1.1 , can anyone help me or point me in the right direction to fix this? It was working perfectly fine last night so I believe its the update I think, any help is appreciated thanks

I had faced the same issue , I resolved the issue by making below setting.

Settings_> more _>thetharing&portable hotshot_>wifi hotshot settings_>set discoverable options.

This settings works for me, I am using xperia sp.
