Hi have had my sony xperia xp for about 1 week. Everything was working fine for first few days. I did the software update using the sony software on my computer. Everything was fine.

Then out of the blue my phone would not charge. When i plug in the phone, it does not recognise it has been plugged in and does not charge. I am using the official sony charger that came with my phone. I tried using it in a wall socket, and plugged into my comuter via usb, and nothing happens. I tried the sony charger on my old htc phone and it worked fine. I also tried another usb charger i had lying around, and that one seemed to recognise it was plugged in only when my phone was off, the redlight would come on, but then nothing. It still would not charge. This charger also works with my old phone. I left it plugged in all night, and it did not charge at all. I tried turning the phone off, resetting it, taking my sim and sd card out. Nothing worked.

HOWEVER , then it does charge in my car with my car charger! This was a cheapy no name brand charger i bought online.

WHY?>???!!! this is so frustrating. I can't charge it in my car all the time!

Sounds really weird. If the phone charges with some charges (like your car charger) it might be somehow software related. Try repairing the phone software via PC Companion (I guess you have it installed since you updated the phone software?). If the problem still persists after the update it might be some glitch in the USB-socket on the phone. If that's the case, you should send the phone along with the charger in to a service center for repair.

I encountered the same problem with you,and this was not always happen.

I used SP one mouth,met the problem twice.

the system will show "now charging" but thethe percentage of Battery did not increase ,also the battery will became very hot.

I'm getting same problem. I'm using Xperia SP from 1 month.and from yesterday problem is started.

With my Sony Official Charger My phone not geeting charged some times but some time it getes charged atomatically with same charger.

I dont know why this happning to my Phone, Please help me out.

i also have a same problem. Had given it to service center and problem was solved . but started again next day. please help. they told it was a software problem.

I had this issue in my xperia sp. the service center had the motherboard / main board replaced.

(they didnt reveal the root cause of this issue).

got the phone back after a week.

No problems since then

you should go to your nearest Sony Center to sort it out..

probably it's hardware issue..

I resolved the problem by taking a small plastic brush that came supplied with my hair clippers and slightly moistened it using water. Be sure only to use a very small amount of water. I then inserted the brush into the micro USB port on my phone and also inside the micro USB connector teeth. The twisting action throughly cleaned the insides and removed all the dirt and grease accumulated when the phone was inside my pocket. My Sony Xperia SP now charges without any problems and so should yours. Good luck!
