Xperia U running slow since update

Since updating to 6.1.1.B.1.10 yesterday my Xperia U is running really slowly. I hadn't used PC Companion since last year because I don't have Windows now, I have Linux.

I borrowed my friend's PC and updated via PC Companion yesterday evening and now every process is so slow. When I turn the phone on from stand-by the screen is blank for an age. Typing messages is a nightmare because the keyboard has lag. The game apps are slow, lagging or they crash.

I only updated because the internet kept dropping out and it was suggested to update to 6.1.1.B.1.10 to rectify the problem!

everytime there is a major software update, some time would be required for the cache of the phone to build up again leading to some lag. after a few days at worse, it should be back to it's original speed.

Try to Factory reset the phone.. Delete/Disable unwanted apps

I tired all these. i did full format of data and ICS image.I never got good speed.Xperia U works better for some time after format.I had disabled all sync, removed almost all apps other than which comes in built . only way i was able to get U to work better was changing launcher to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fede.launcher .

phone comes with xperia home which cause phone to be damm slow.

There may be other good luncher also .But default one cause phone to be very slow.

Do I have to uninstall the current default launcher on my phone before I install?

No need to uninstall xperia home. anyway you can not do that unless you root the device.

Just install this and press home. it will ask you to select the launcher . Select Launcher pro as default.

Warning some of your widgets may not be available after installing .

use widgetsoid for generating new widgets incase you require them.

I changed the launcher but there has been no improvement in any of the problems I'm having.

disable sync for google , facebook etc.I have only enabled photo sync to google+ and gmail. Uninstall extra apps you have installed.Make sure you have space left in internal storage area.You can install apps after few days one by one and check which is touble app.

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem. Updated my phone yesteray after having not logged onto the companion for more than a year and a half. I sincerely regret the moment I did it. All applications misbehave and basically the phone take 1-2 mins to undertake the most elementary tasks. Often I can't even slide the indicator to the right side so that I can pick the phone when someone is calling me.

Am I right, reading this thread, that basically there ISN'T an availavle way to easily solve this problem? I have restored the hone to factory settings, deleted pretty much all of my apps (which shouldn't be the case of course -- thats what the smartphone is for, to run apps) and its still extremely slow?

Isn't there AN EASY way to simply roll back to the previous software version? Do I really need to tamper with the phone in all those semi-hacking semi-official ways that one can find on the internet (and this forum) to simply make it work?

If the phone simply can't run properly WHY do you recommend to always update to the newer version?

Are there any available solutions or doing great update effectively condemns you to having to spend another three to four hundred euros to buy a new phone?

PS: NONE of the links available in this thread actually tells me anything about how to downgrade/roll back to the previous software version.
