How good is the camera for xperia t. my images blurr wen u zoom into them after takin a pic.y is dat so. it has a 13 mp camera for what use then?

The camera is not good, got better with Jelly Bean update.

Trikesh,

The main problem about the camera of Xperia T (and others, as I did read), is that the JPG has too much compression.

With JB update, they added so many good options to the camera (really good ones), but they didn't change the compression.

What does it mean?... it means that we have so many good options with a camera that offers an amazing colour/contrast, but that at the end, the big compression makes that the picture shows a lot of noise nomatter in what condition you will shoot. So the pictures appears blurr because the noise.

The saddest part is that Sony won't change this, even getting LOTS of complainings about this matter.

About the zoom, yes, it makes that the pictures appears even more blurr if you use it at the max.

Since the jelly bean update the camera has gone from 13Mp to 12 Mp

That doesn't matter - even my old 3.2 MP Nokia 6320 takes better pictures. I'm not an expert on the whys and wherefores, but all I know is that this is the worst camera phone I have ever had.

Hi its due tgo compression algorithms used by sony, they have amazing sensors, but awful camera processing software, my best advice to you, if you wish to take full advantage of the 13Megapixel camera, is use a third party app like camera 360, pictures come out larger at around 5mb but they are quality.

Hi,

I tried some thirtd party apps but noone seems to take better pictures.

I think that, if the main software from Sony is set up to take the lowest quailty, there is nothing we can do, unless we can change this.

Would be good to know if someone can explain HOW to do this, because it is clear that Sony will do nothing to change this (although it has to be the easiest part for them).

Once we can improve Sony's bad work, then the thirth apps, will do wonders with this camera.

It is just ridicilous to get this camera with that lower quality. I just can't believe why Sony won't do anything about it.

Its frustrating because Sony dont know how to get the best out of their hardware. The sensor is actually pretty good but crippled by poor implementation.

The camera on the Z is just as bad when compared to the S4, which has an equivilent sensor.

In the camera world the sensors Sony use in their SLRs are the best around but are implemented better when used in other manufacturers models in every case!

Matbe they should hire some better software engineers as the ones they have arent very good!

I agree 100%.

This same sensor in other phones, takes very good pictures.

It is just unveliable that the same company that develops such amazing hardware is totally unable to develop a good software for it.

Yes, as you said, the Z has the same problems that the T (wich it's even worst, as the Z sensor is better than ours)...

Looks like they only spend money to make fake commertials saying how good is the product, when the truth is that thanks to the software, it is a really bad camera.

The T and the Z would take amazing pictures ONLY if Sony would listen to the costumers.

But there's no way they want to learn.

Anyways, they cheated me just once, no more.

As soon as it will be available here, I'll sell this T just for the lowest (any price will be worth) and I'll go for the S4.

In 6 months, I had more than enough about this Xperia T and Sony and their lies.

My T unexpectedly died last week and i had to send it away just as i was due to go on holiday :smileysad:.

Because i had no phone, i had to use my old iphone and i must say i started to really like it again.

The fact that it always worked, it didnt go randomly laggy, the fact that the push notifications work nicely, no random crashes and decent battery life. Because i pay almost nothing on my contract im tempted to sell the T and my old iphone and get an iphone 5. At least if an iphone dies you go to the apple store and get a new one, no questions asked instead of sending your phone away and waiting upto 10 days to get it back.

I installed a thrid party app after which i have tried them all the best one is pro capture now i know that we have to fix the original but at least it give better quality for photos around 5 to 7 mb per photo i found it better and i think i will install the custom Curiosity or cynogen mod and get rid of the crashes thats the best way to fix it

I have not had any issues with the camera on my T. Just around low lighting areas they come out poor just like other phones. The quality is still good for what it is. I also had an ARC and the pics came out amazing. though I am going to try that pro capture

So you have had issues!

My wife has no problems with her galaxy SIII in low light conditions, and my N8 certainly didn't (but that has a xenon flash and is a much superior piece of hardware all round)

I use the Vignette app now - fabulous black and white and arty pictures, but no good for regular snapshots. But I am quite enjoying discovering my artistic side ... I don't use the Sony camera app at all as the results are always dreadful.

The camera is terrible.

I was told when buying the phone that the camera was brilliant; sales pitch - "Hey it's SONY! They make amazing camera's right? This phone is no acception!"

I had to buy a seperate camera app just to be HAPPY with the camera results on this phone.

That's the saddest thing about this camera.

The fact that Sony keeps lying to the customers, they did with the T and after, with the Z.

I just think that it's RIDICULOUS that with this phone, we have to buy other apps just to get something that can be named as "normal pictures".

As it was said here, the same sensor in other phones, takes much better pictures, so the whole problem turns around that stupid software from Sony (which tell us that Sony has no idea to do a good sofware for phones)... how I miss the times of Ericsson!!!!.

And they keep NOT listening to all the complains that the customers say.

It is obvious at this point that Sony will do NOTHING to fix this camera, otherwise they would have done already.

Anybody in this forum knows the way to change this?. I mean, fix the faulty software that Sony developed (?).

I'm sure on the z someone could hack the s4 drivers. For the t im not sure as I don't think that the sensor is used in any other phones. Sony make good hardware but don't have a clue about software or customer service. There is a reason why they have lost masses of money over the last few years and Samsung have made bucket loads.....

l will try a third party camera app when I decide which one I want and I'll do a thorough comparison for all concerned. Whilst it's not ideal if an app costing a few pounds / Euros can fix the camera it's well worth spending.

According to Wiki the this is an open source firmware replacement for Android smartphones.

It sounds like it's very good; it's been around for a long time, ICS to JB, frequent updates and fixes, phone specific firmware etc but personally unless there are some stunning advantages to be had I'll stick with Sony's official stuff for now. (NOTE: installation possibly invalidates phone warranty).
