I'm not sure why the limit has been set where it is but it might be possible to decrease it further using 3:rd party apps and i don't think it could damage the display in any way.
One thing i noticed is that the display actually gets a bit darker (with slider all the way to the left) if you enable "Adapt to lighting conditions" under Settings -> Display -> Brightness so enable that to start with if you haven't done so already.

Hello Sony.
Is this possible to lower the minimum value of backlight?
I think that in dark conditions (at night) the screen is to bright.
Lovering the value should be better, as well for battery.
I know that it is possible to do with external apps from Google Play, but still I am not sure if it is good for the screen - there must be some reason why you just decided to set the backlight value that way.

Also in my opinion, automatic brightness is little to shy, it should work more agressive.
Thank you.

I know, but even if I turn it to the lowest level for me it is still to bright in completely dark environments.

you can also go into setting - display and have the device adjust the brightness automatically based on ambient light sensor

download an app such as Screen Filter and that should help you, other than that there isn't any other option but an app.
