But since it does rotate the homescreen when placed in the dock, it means it CAN rotate it. Then I don't see any reason why it shouldn't do this also when the phone is held sideways? Or is there some part of it that's not functional in landscape mode?

Older Xperia phones do have that settings. But apparently Sony has ecide to forgo that. Not sure why.:smileyhappy:

However, you can set auto-roate yourself by installing apps from Google Play. I'm using "Screen Rotation" for that, But the settings do not 'stick'. You have to run the apps again when you restart your phone. There are a lot of similar apps in Play. Maybe you can find out that stick.

That photo could be taken while using the sceen mirroring feature to a Sony TV. Once connected you can rotate the screen.

you can buy a case for your xperia z with built in battery so every time it charges the battery it lets you do landscape at same time while it charges secondly about pic from FB that apperently is a photoshop failure they did it wrong, which sony once confirmed earlier, also about rotate box there is one of these in settings called auto rotate or so it should be in display settings area

Yes there's 3rd party app termed rotate in play store nd with this my home screen rotate's perfectly

Yes there is. Longpress on homescreen and select home settings. Then turn on Auto rotatio. You can also change the icons size from this menu.
