Hello,

How many of you root their Xperia P?

What is the advantage of rooting your phone?

Is it a MUST do to your Xperia P?

Will it Void my warranty?

Can I unroot after i root?

Sorry for too many questions.

I'm just curious because I saw a camera mod on XDA for Xperia phones.

It looks like one on the Xperia T and V.

Did anyone try that?

I have rooted my Xperia from day one :smileygrin:

By rooting, you can use Ad Blocker to prevent apps from showing apps. which saves battery and data usage noticably and apps load faster.

You can pause/ remove any unwanted app that is by default installed in your formware using titanium backup pro.

you need to install SUPERUSER ELITE to set a password to avoid unwanted root access.

Root doesnot void your warranty unless your changes dont affect hardware, stopping or rmeoving a wrong app can crash the phone, you then have to refalsh the OS.

backup and restore for each app is easy and many more...............

seems like there are some very good advantage of rooting the phone. How can i back up?

Is there step by step on how to root it?

and did you tried using MODS from XDA like this one?

First purchase these two apps and get familiar with them. they will help you restore your data in case somehting goes wrong and you have to format the phone .

These apps will not root your phone. but help you to gain more from rooting.

Titanium backup is like a life saver app . if ever something goes horribly wrong and you are forced to reset your phone. this app wil help you to restore your phone to the last working state you have backedup as easy as saying 1-2-3 :smileygrin: :smileygrin:

purchasing superuser elite is just difference between setting lock screen to SLIDE or PASSWORD .

prevents apps to gain unauthorised root access.

use this method combined with previous one :

you also need to get familiar with flashtool . which will be helpful for you if you ever plan to FLASH the stock rom or custom rom .

you need to do lot of searching and reading on XDA .

more you read , more comfortable you feel. sometimes learnign from others bad experiecnse helps you revocer form your own. if ever you face same.

also downlaod a ROOT BROWSER app from paly store. to make system modifications

i advise you to go slowly, dont rush into things. you might get messed up with all data lost.

dont go bootloader unlocking as of now, it WILL SURELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY .

Make sure to restore your firmware by SUS or PC comapnion before submitting for service/ repair.

so that service centre cant find any root traces, :smileygrin:

before rooting you can backup data using sony BACKUP & RESTORE feature.

after that titanium backup is like GOD :smileygrin: :smileygrin: of backup & restore.

Why unroot ???

i dont think unroot is possible wihtout updating firmware through official means. all the effort goes in vain

So if i repair my phone via SUS or PCC. it will unroot my phone?

Sorry very new to rooting stuff. this is my 1st android phone so far. New android phones are expensive here. I can't buy a new one so i'm stuck with this.

Rooting is pretty much safer.

i was also a novice when i rooted my Xperia Neo v. Damaged by water, so got this P . :smileygrin:

the user experince you will get after rooting is unbelievable.

it takes time, patience and lots of XDA reading to feel comfortable.

dont hesitate to try. if any thing goes wrong then PC companion is always there :smileygrin:

nope, there more risk of bricking your phone on rooted phone because you can access all files on your phone...

like aayushjain1987 said, stopping or removing a wrong app can crash the phone...

if you rooted your phone, I suggest you to install CWM then you can flash any custom kernel which make phone more smooth and fast also save more battery...

and with CWM you can backup your files too and install some mods like Cyber-Shot mods for camera...

or you can start reading some threads about Xperia P on XDA

installing CWM and custom kernel needs unlock bootloader. is that true? because i read that unlocking bootloader will void warranty.
