Hello,
I am using apple iphone (3g,3gs,iphone4,4s,5) no issues till date , super duper handsets in world.

Sony i guess is a very world class company whose products have good impact over market .

December 2012

i had iPhones , BUT I REQUIRED SOMETHING latest and yes with physical keypads was my need . Shopkeeper showed me Xperia mini pro,Samsung sets etc. With Gingerbread out of the box . I REJECTED on hearing name of ginger bread but instantly he said "No problem sir SONY XPERIA MINI PRO its upgradeble with ICS 4.0.4 its got all the features this and that"

Some how i ended up buying Sony xperia mini pro Sk17i . 2-3 days i fell in love with sony after my many years after p910i and walkman550i . Even i belive sony is best alternative in ANDROID MARKET.
Its so well made and cool handset but at the moment the main issue was out of my reach . 6-7 days later i required to transfer a file in my office through bluetooth . I turned on bluetooth happily after few seconds i looked back to screen .
AND WHAT REBOOT LOOP WAS FORMED . it was like rebooting and restarting 2hrs 3 hrs until battery got dead.

Me -"No problem lets install Sony Update Service might be i might have messed with some virus or etc" . "I had Done it for apple may be its same for sony also RESTORING!" (YES IT WAS SAME HURRAY SONY IS ALSO GOOD DONE!)

Installed fresh firmware like other devices support repair firmware options , i somehow managed to install it again and phone started.

After two days was placing Bluetooth widget on screen . Clicked on bluetooth
REBOOT LOOP AGAIN FORMED ..... I WAS LIKE I BOUGHT NEW HANDSET IT MAY BE SOME HARDWARE ISSUE , NOW IT WILL BE REPAIRED OHH GOD! FEW DAYS OLD HANDSET GOING TO REPAIRS :smileysad:.

I searched net for issue on google found 100 threads with same issue in sony fourms where questions left unsaid and users left with issue . i mailed sony care support . They generated ticket for me and asked me to go out to local Service Center First .

I am a mid range service men having no time to go out . i am in office routine from morning 7am to 8 pm night . I had no time for this going out to service center with new phone and do all that hassel but just for i love my brands and phones i asked my BOSS to approve me leave with loss of my daily pay :smileysad:.

Bad Part-- I got there explained the issue they were like "i am a noob" that i am saying bug in ICS they laughing at me told me don,t make us understand its your ICS fault (its sony ICS not MIne i said) , But no problem it does not matters me what they said . All they can do was only restore it to GIngerBread OUT OF DATE O.S. I told them that update means fixed bugs etc and all why you don,t restore it to latest firwmare but they said no all we can do is restore to gingerbread as they had only got that . They gave back my phone with gingerbread on it which is stable and i had no issue with bluetooth . And they cleared its not hardware fault "even i told them same thats its problem in software not hardware bcause my bluetooth sending/receiving works on ginger bread without any issue".

But it does not have reliabilty of SONY AND THAT QUALITY OF SERVICE WHICH OTHER CAN PROVIDE .

Hard scrolling , no multiple mails , outdated OS , No latest Apps . But i will not boast at sony due to their service center acts . But i request them to look in matter carefully

I WANT TO ASK SONY

IS THIS THEY MAKE SK17i for

AND ITS NOT ISSUE WITH sk17i BUT MANY OTHER DEVICES IF THEY LOOK IN THREADS.

Had i wasted my 12500rs on SONY while i could get GINGERBREAD devices at much cheaper rates at DEC 2012 ?

Please reply back with something logical reasoning.

I am myself a ORACLE & ASP.NET Developer + a Data base admin so i understand issues of software a bit more well than other end users . I WANT MY ISSUE TO BE LOOKED OVER BY DEVELOPER SUPPORT ENGINEER who is well aware about it because i am tired to express this problems to nuts every where

STAYING WITH GINGER BREAD IS LIKE THROWING A CUSTOMER WITHOUT SERVICE SUPPORT .

now the phone is in warranty it could be updated for free but when warranty will expire then what how will i restore my phone bcause ur companion software gives Me I.C.S restore for free And your Service Center will give me GingerBread in rs 150+.

Kindly look into matter please please. Kindly Reply.

Thanks

We haven't notice this as a problem in the ICS update for Xperia mini pro and I'm not able to replicate it. So I suggest that you try to update to ICS again and get back to me if you run into the same problem.

@Johan

Thanks For Replying Back
As u have stated me to reinstall it . I had reinstalled whole firmware 10 times using SUS & even Pc compaion too . On gingerbread my Phone Bluetooth works like charm . After updating to I.C.S Even after when i see first setup screen at first start if i click turn bluetooth on it comes in reboot loop , if it dont comes it comes after 1-2 hours or maximum a day . I really understand ur concern but if u are not aware about this issue then all i can do is upload you a full video or you should take a look at these threads where same issue is common . Some of them are official threads where you have told all of us to reinstalling it but i am very sorry to say that reinstalling it does not work at all and its not even a hardware issue then whats it ?

It's simply a Bluetooth Dead-Lock-Loop-Reboot. I've completely avoided using "Status switch" widget, especially due to this Bluetooth Nightmare/Daymare! I don't wanna do anymore experiments/research by turning ON the Bluetooth feature, even from Settings, to experience this Nightmare/Daymare again, as it's confimed that it's a Software Bug

Well, how about we try a 3rd Party Bluetooth app to turn ON the Bluetooth than the default one?

I was able to transfer files by turning ON the Bluetooth through X-plore app while sending/sharing the files via Bluetooth, and it did the job, but when turn ON the Bluetooth from "Status switch", Dead-Lock-Loop-Reboot starts till I repair my phone using PC Companion or Update Service.

Thank GOD, atleast Super Backup saves me by taking automatic/manual backup of Contacts,Call Logs,Calenders,Apps,Bookmarks,SMSes! So, though we accidentally turn ON Bluetooth, we don't have to worry about losing our important data.

However, I wish there was an hard-reset feature by which I can restore/repair my phone to factory settings, whenever this Nightmare/Daymare starts, than restoring/repairing it using PC Companion or Update Service

Hope Sony Development Team looks into this issue CAREFULLY to fix it ASAP :smileyblush:

Thanks & Regards!!

It seems like my xperia mini pro sk17i too have this issue. It too have been upgraded to ICS. I was developing a bluetooth based multiplayer game. I have found a way to reproduce this problem. Here's how.

1. Install this(http://www.mediafire.com/?0ubem7hwviqhbnx) bluetooth chat application on 2 mobile devices. I was using my Xperia Mini Pro SK17i and a Micromax A52.

2. I tried to pair both the devices from settings. In my case i wasn't able to pair the devices by selecting the pair option from the SK17i. It kept on showing "Pairing with Micromax A52..." . I turned off bluetooth in the SK17i then turned it on again. Then i tried to pair with the SK17i from the Micromax A52 which was successfull.

2.Start the chat application on both devices.

3.On the SK17i, bring up the menu of the app and select 'Connect a device - Insecure'. It showed an "Unable to connect" message after a few seconds. I tried to do the same thing again (menu->Connect a device - Insecure). Again the same outcome.

4.Now press the home button. Then goto settings and try to turn off bluetooth. It will show "turning off bluetooth" for sometime and then the screen fades out into black in a wierd way and phone gets restarted.

Once the phone has started up, if you go to the settings screen the bluetooth will be shown as 'off' . Now if you try to turn on the bluetooth the phone will restart in the same manner it did before except that the phone will not boot up successfully. First the SONY logo is shown then the xperia logo is shown for sometime followed by the screen fading out and the phone restarting and this keeps on happening.

However there were times when i was able to pair and connect both the devices successfully . But in 80% of the cases i couldn't and the reboot loop occured.

I noticed something else too. I faced the inability to turn off bluetooth on my Micromax A52 also, but rarely. If you attempt to turn off the bluetooth the phone reboots but the bluetooth can be successfully toggled on or off once the devices has restarted. I faced this problem with an android x86 image also, which i had installed on my PC. So it clearly looks like a problem with the android OS. The problem is a bit too worse in the case of SK17i.

I also tried using a widget to toggle the bluetooth state. It didn't work either. The same problem.

The only way recover from this reboot loop is to use Sony PC Companion and select 'Support zone'->'start'->'Phone software update'->'repair my phone'->'next'->'continue'->'accept data loss'->next

I hope this issue will get fixed up soon. Thanks.
