missing micro sd card after JB update

Well,

As it happened...

I updated to JB last night, and all the sudden, my 32Gb Sandisk Ultra microSD is toasted...

The phone says there is no SD card installed.

The computer says there is no SD card when I connect the card (so I cannot format or get the information I had there)

I tried to reinstall JB, fixed nothing.

I quit the Sd Cad and put it back to the phone, fixed nothing.

I reboot the phone with power + sound, fixed nothing.

It never had any trouble before, and after this update, looks like the phone totally toasted the card.

So... any idea about what can I do?...

I assume that thanks to the phone, I will have to spend buying a new one, but at least I'd like to get the information I had there.

The card went VERY well until I updated to Jelly Bean.

I tried in 3 different computers and nothing... it is dead 100%. Somehow, it toasted the card.

Sad that I cannot get any advice from Sony support...

Nothing new tho.

Unfortunately I have no explanation to why this have happen. The SD seems to be dead if you can't detect it via USB adapters connection directly to a computer.

I suggest that you try using another SD card and check if it mounts correctly and if you can get connection with it via USB.

I had an old 8Gb class 4 sd and I have it on the phone now.

It works well (for now).

There is no way to get working the 32Gb ultra. It is totally dead.

At the moment I had working the JB update in my T, then all the sudden it said there was no SD card.

From there, til now. Dead.

Hi, when I was looking into a new SD class 10 card for my Xperia T, I emailed Sony because the online manual is vague and does not mention card class. Following their reply I asked them to update the online manual, regretably they haven't.

Please see Q&A below, I'm sure you would agree the answer is not the most helpful, a "I don't know" isn't what customer's should receive from a company with Sony's resources.

Customer service is not a luxury in today's competitive environment. I don't see why Sony can't simply test the Xperia T with a class 10 or if Sony isn't prepared to do this, then just update the online manual with clear information, thereby preventing Sony customers wasting their money.

Given the number of posts on this issue it would appear a class 10 isn't compatible with Xperia T and your customer's, at their own expense, have done the testing for Sony.

MY QUESTION TO SONY:

I am planning to buy additional memory for my Sony Xperia T.

I quote from your online manual:

"Your phone supports microSD™ and microSDHC memory cards. MicroSD™ cards support up to 2 GB, and microSDHC cards support up to 32 GB and can be bought separately."

I would like to buy the 32GBmicro SDHC card. My question is: Will the Xperia T work with a class 10 version of this card?

SONY's REPLY:

Unfortunately we cannot confirm if the Sony Xperia T will be fully compatible with a class 10 memory card. Our handsets are only tested with memory cards up to the capacity of 32GB using either class 2 or class 4 cards.

Normally there isn't a problem no matter which class you use. We usually recommend class 4 or higher for video recording but you should be able to use any class.

Had a Sandisk 8gb class 2 SDHC card in for a month with no problems,

only had a few pictures and videos on it.

Took my phone off charge last night and there was a notification saying that it was safe to remove the sd card.

Reset the phone but same thing ,

took card out and replaced, nothing.

Put card into laptop, at first it didn't recogize it but after several attempts I got the properties up and the card was showing empty.

Done a full format to FAT32 and put it back in phone,

it is working now but this is not good Sony.

The phone is not only deleting data off the card,

as Daloch has said...it is TOASTING it.

I tried several times to format the card in 4 different computers, and there was no way to do it.

The most amazing was that 3 of those computes would't even recognize the card and the other one one said that the card size was only 30Mb (not 32Gb), and was totally empty.

There's enough people complaining about this problem, enough to get some fix from Sony.

To say that there's no explanation about this will fix nothing and the costumers will have to keep spending money in new cards.

THIS IS NOT normal... this is a very expensive phone and is FULL of bugs not fixed yet.

They know there's a problem, but wont admit it.

They must think people make up issues, and give bogus feedback for the sake of it.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone finds horsemeat in one of their phones soon.

Same issue here. After the last update in february (android 4.0.4 over here) my sd card started to be unmounted all the time. My card is toasted now. I was smart enough to move all content to the phone's internal memory at the first signs of trouble so I did not loose any pics or vids.

In my case it's a 32GB class4 microSDHC. Sorry Johan, I think it's not related to class.

Seems lik eSamsung is having the same issues. LG is not...

Exact same problem, mine happened after the JB update, I was trying to add music via Media Go (Using the USB cable), next minute all my music and pictures were gone, and the SD card wouldnt even show on my laptop. After several attempts it finally came up, but only showed 30mb not 32gb, and requied me to format, which when I tried I encountered an error every time. Looks like it's completely dead.

Also my Xperia T is randomly restarting, or crashing and requiring me to do a hard reset, really starting to annoy me. Anyone else noticed this?

Only recently joined Android from iPhone, and was going to upgrade to the Xperia Z, but looks like I may have to go back to Apple as I never had a problem since the iPhone 3GS

It just seems that Sandisk ultra 32gb cards are very common to this problem. Is it the version with UHS-I? Then there could be a good reason for it begin dead now. Just wanting to help!
