Headphone volume very low :-(

i was using nokia previously and nw i switchd over to xperia z..

i thought xperia z will amze me with its walkman and headphones...but the headphone sound is very low compard to other phones...

is dis an issue ?

Yes. it is an issue but Sony is not accepting nor talking about it.. sad...

Thought I was going crazy lol I was not so much disappointed with the volume through my Headphones but rather surprised it was as low as it was. Hopefully they address the issue promptly.

first of all the stock headphones in the box are not great, I used my own set and the volume went up about 20%

still not loud enough for me so I installed "speakerboost" from the app store and it works great - a bit fiddley at the start - when you open walkman you then need to activate the app from the taskbar and blow your lugs out

haha I have rather expensive Philips Urban headphones and wouldnt dream of using stock earphones lol I run the volume at around 70-80% most of the time and its perfectly eligible and loud enough for me to enjoy just wish it was a bit louder if I were to increase the volume to 100%, just not high as expected. hmm I try not to install too many apps that 'improve' functions of the phone...some are very buggy and a nuisance lol but thankyou for the tip and if I want it a bit louder I now know atleast 1 option

yes I'm with you on that - I prefer to let Agroid handle the tasks on the phone at least until I am sure it's stable - even then I don't like to change anything that is working fine for me

so far speakerboost has had no negative impact on anything that I've noticed so it seems fairly stable

em ok wid d sound..nt happy...

sony says that the clarity is superb..but i din feel dat much....

even the bass boost fails.....i cant feel any real bass in dis fone

Well I can accept if they chose to have the maximum volume of this phone at a decreased level due to health regulations but for them to do it without saying anything or updating fans/users that this is the case...I feel a little cheated.

Johan there is a bit of lowness in the volumes over all. Thats with both the stock earphones and also with the free MDR ZX 100A. I used the ZX 100A with my laptop and its appears the phone is not able to drive the headphones well. MDR ZX 100A is supplied by Sony with Xperia Z. Please report this issue and try to fix it. Call volume and speker volume also needs a tad higher.

I love "stock" answers - so those not under imposed EU rules (US, Canada, India and big chunk of other reqions) must suffer sub-par low volume? The volume is way, way too low. Speakerboots brings back memories of last Sony phone (Ion for 3 weeks) and naturally it's "quirky" with Walkman (Go figure).

Sony needs to "listen" and work to fix things - better yet OFFICAL responses.

I found it low as well, but when I found out from settings, and turn on the clarity sound while on the walkman, it gives you much more better sound.

if you are using the supplied headset it is not great, I have my own and it is very loud even without speakerboost app

I came from an Iphone 5 to this, The headphone Volume is disappointing. Although when in connect the Xperia to my car Via AUX, the quality is terrible! dont say that my music has problem! i think there must be a problem with the input slot.
please do something about it.

Hopefully action taken on this - primary reason for putting "For Sale" sign on ZL. Have read even in XDA Sony is following EU law to prevent ear damage. I would gather SW can lock regional restrictions to free others not under that law.

Have tried Speakerboost, WinAMP (Inept response even from offical Sony Support) which solve nothing as even call volume impacted. Ambient noise drowns out calls entirely for long stretches.

Tried 3 different makes, models of headphones and nothing changed connected to phone. Now using the Sony MH-EX300AP in Samsung and they are quite nice (Not rubbish as touted by others)! ZL volume on MAX is substantially lower than Samsung S3/S4 or iPhone. Interesting they produce a phone with inbox earbuds, voulme levels which are satisfying even with Sony ZL headphones.

I don't know whether it's because I'm in the EU or not, but I already received the following warning when trying to turn the volume higher than about 70%. I think it's a good thing that Sony tries to protect the hearing of it's users, also the ones outside the EU. There are already enough people with hearing loss due to listining to (too) loud music. It's typically adolescents who like to turn their headphone volume to dangerous levels and then suffer the consequences for the rest of their lives.
