Hi there,

I am taken back and blown away by how cool the new shiny sony xperia z is and how the features of android are wonderous and plenty after switching from apple last month but, now theres the but. I cant enjoy my music collection limitlessly!

Every time I load my music onto my device its is like a lottery on which files will be able to play in the walkman, my xperia reguarlly feels the need to randomly corrupt about 50% of the songs i choose to load on to it. The style of corruption varies, on one file we might have a very glitchy sounding noise and on the other it refuses to play at all.

Also I have noticed if i transfer the files onto my memory card via either my pc or on the phone itself its an instant corruption of about 95% of the music files.

This is really starting to bug me now as I really enjoy listening to music and is it just me or did sony not invent the Walkman? The irony.

If you are out there Mr Sony or if anyone knows anyone who can help me I would be very gratefull as this is the only issue i have now I am on my 12 month contract.

Is there a telephone number for this for someone i could ring?

Any help would be appriciated.

Regards,

Rob Casey

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. In answer to your question all my music is on itunes yes so im not sure about that one.The thing is though I am starting to believe that the phone will not transfer large files in one piece.

The reason i say this is because if I transfer say a few songs the songs are fine but if i transfer say fifty they will be corrupt.

Like I said I get the feeling it doesnt like large files period, this is because I was trying to use a playstation 1 emulator and everytime i transfer one of the games to my phone the file wont load and seems suspiciously like it is corrupt.

The file works on my computer. So it must be a case of not being able to transfer large files to the phone or memory card. I really dont understand what that could be or how i would fix it.

Regards

Rob

when you say large files - just what size are we talking ?

also I've noticed that when I transfer some video files from pc to phone it will sometimes ask me if I want to convert the file, if I don't convert they won't play in the standard video player - I had to install a 3rd party app whic is fine because it plays everything, I did do a conversion on a sample video and the quality was awful

I tried different players and settled with MX Player - not sure if it plays audio files though

So the way I see it - either convert all your files to mp3 or go on the hunt for a 3ed party app that will play them

I tested importing songs from Itunes and simply copying the mp3 file from my PC onto my memory card and can say that for some reason, the songs moved from Itunes were awful. Not sure what was happening but they were of terrible quality and deleted them straight away. Apple and Android not playing nice *cough*

The songs I got of my PC were clear and perfect. But I did notice one thing, I found I needed to have mp3 files that weren't compressed too much otherwise I could hear distortion when playing the file using the Walkman app, so after downloading better quality MP3's all is well, each song plays and is clear and loud.

tl:dr

I wouldn't want to bring songs from Itunes over to my Z

Just out of curiosity, are you somehow how transferring the files out of the iTunes application itself or just going into Windows Explorer? They copioed accross and when plugged back in the Xperia all files worked perfectly with no corruption (aprox 6k songs).

So looks like whatever process/conversion the phone or PC connect is doing is messing up the files.

Cheers

Sean

Im having the same issues. Transfered Mp3s from laptop to phone via drag and drop onto my phone and all music played 2 secs and was distorted and carried on to next song which did the same. I did some photos too and when u looked on the phone the were not there or couldnt be viewed.

I tried taking the memory card out and doing the drag and drop just onto the memory card and put it back in the phone. They were on the card but when i put them in the phone they were not there.

This is a good phone but with so many glitches its making me look at selling and going back to samsung or HTC.

If anyone has any way of solving this i would appreciate it muchly

I am having the same issue with my Xperia Z, I use the "Windows Explorer" method by transferring songs (All MP3's by the way) from the PC over straight to the SD card using USB from my PC to my phone that came with the phone included.

Even using third party apps doesn't even help me out, it bugs me more than the bugs I get in this stupid app.

Is there any other method of transferring music without it having glitchy sounds or will stop the "Cannot play song" nonsense?

Many thanks.
