Notification Icon Disappears

The notification icon disappears while the phone is on the lock screen and if the notification is for the current foreground app.

Open an app and keep in on-screen e.g Gmail, SMS, Whatsapp etc.
Turn the screen off.
Receive a notification.
Turn the screen on.
The notification icon quickly disappears.

If I send the open app to the background before step 2 the notifications work as expected.

Version: 6.1.1.B.175

Have tried a wipe/repair etc.

As understand this is how it works. If the app is running in the foreground. But the LED should still notify you until you unlock your phone and you get into the app.

hmmm are all notifications on all of your apps active? i mean on their own settings? not with the phone settings.
