ICS: Android OS battery issue

Hey, can someone from Xperia support explain what is this problem all about?
I am just sick of charging my phone 2-3 times a day.
Googled everywhere but no clear solution to the problem of battery drainage by Andoid OS.

My phone details:
Model No.: SK17i

Android Version: 4.0.4
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-perf BuildUser@BuildHost#1
Build number: 4.1.B.0.587

42% of battery is consumed by Android OS (highest usage).

Is this an ICS bug?
By when can we expect a fix/update?

That you should not get, unless you have only just flashed the phone as it can take a couple of days to settle. If it has been longer than that then I would advise running the update again and choosing the "Repair" option to reload the firmware.

No Luck, even after choosing the "Repair" option to reload the firmware.
Android OS is no where till the first week of fresh installation but gradually it tops the chart of battery consumption.

PS: I have not installed any extra app.

Any suggestions on what to do next???

Hi Support,

I have repaired my phone but the issue remained. Android OS consumes the battery more than 40%.

What to do next?

Please reply a solution or at least workaround!

Hey Buddy,

Try to disable all the location services, Settings > Location Service.
Disable Google's location service, location & google search and GPS.

Observe your phone for atleast 24 hours after disabling the location services. Android OS usage will be dropped down to below 15%.

Then enable it once and then disable...

This trick worked for me.

Usually this issue is faced due to some app/service only.

Hi,

The hope is dead 🙂 The result is the same. Android OS 58% !!!!

Sony ICS 4.0.4 has a BIG BUG! I am disappointed because I see that the sony do not want to solve the issue.
