Xperia U ICS Wifi Problem

Last week I updated my Xperia U to ICS 4.04, and ever since, my wifi has stopped working after the first couple of seconds. I'm still connected to the wifi network, but nothing the internet isn't working.

I would really appreactiate some help for this problem, but I'm no tech expert, so take it easy!

Firstly I should say I'm not here to offer a solution, rather I'm trying to see if we're having the same problem!

When you say that the wifi stops working, is it only on your phone or across all devices? I moved home this week and our wifi has been cutting out, but as soon as I disconnect my phone the internet is fine. However I haven't had this problem with the router at University.

Hope someone knows what's going on!

I also had wifi trouble after ICS update. It was fixed by doing FACTORY RESET. This also cured lagging problems.

I've tried factory reseting it, but it doesn't work.

My wifi is working fine on other device such as my laptop, but it's just a problem on my phone. The wifi was fine before the ICS update, so it must be some kind of bug?

Yeah, we all got that problem... Change router settings from 802.11bgn to 11.g or 11.bn only. There is problem with latest wifi n cert.

But, this will work only for your router, not public ones

Yes, the router... i fix it

If you don't know how to change router settings, try google it for your router brand.

Usualy it's accessed by typing 192.168.1.1 , 192.168.0.1 in browser address and login with

user: admin

pass: admin

I've tried typing in 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1 in the browser adress, but they aren't working. Where can I find I need to go on to my settings?

Dude, just tell me what kind of router do you have. I'll search for you.

Btw, i flashed my xperia u with latest Croatian(Slovakia have the same) firmwire 6.1.1.c.1.0 and it fix my wifi problem... So, now i can surf normaly... And it's pretty sleak, fast, it seams to me that now i have even more free ram memory than before.

I mean, i don't use facebook, tweeter or other social networking on my phone, but this is pretty surprising for me.

Hi all,

I am having the wifi problem too. When i scan my wifi network shows up and when i try to connect it disappers and shows up as out of range. Frustrating...all the more because mine is a brand new phone xperia U and first thing i did was to upgrade to ics.

I tried factory reset and it worked for one day fine and then problem reappeared. is that the only resolution to this problem?

Well, yes, there is... Try flashing with Croatian/Slovakian firmwire 6.1.1.c.1.10 it's very easy, cause I did it and I'm a kind of newbie :smileygrin:

I can't search for the link right now, I'm replaying from my phone but search through the forum and you'll find it.

There is a topic created by me called 802.11n WiFi problem and there are links by one guy with tutorials how to flash latest firmwire.

I have exactly the same problem on the four Xperia U in my familly.

Why Sony does not fix this problem ?

I read on this forum that the upgrade in 6.1.1.C1.0 does not fix the problem so I'm waiting for a solution.

I havent tried your firmware yet. But i have narrowed down on what makes it work and what doesnt. If i change any setting on my router, like changing channel or security password or type, the phone connects to the router.

Now if i shutdown my wi-fi router and switch it back on, it doesnt connect. So again i login to router via my laptop, tinker with some setting on the router and save it, then it connects again.

Wonder what thats supposed to mean!!!!

I'll test reset factory asap but a firmware that fixes this issue will be nice.

Sarvab, are you trying to say that you can only get one device to connect to your rooter at a time? By the way I've tried a factory reset, reboot, software upgrade, software repair and none of them are working so does anyone have any other ideas? And if I change my router settings, won't that slow down my internet speed/ affect other devices using wifi?

No. Thats not what i meant. Here is an example:

- I switch on my router

- Phone detects my network and shows it as available but refuses to connect

- I login to my router from my laptop, i go to the wep password.

- i just do some edit and leave my password unchanged

- router thinks somethings changed and reinitializes and comes up again

- Now my phone connects!!!

My phone detects the network, connects and works for about 10 seconds, then stops working while I'm still connected to the network.

Just to sum up some thins... When you came to this forum, asking question... try searching for someone asked them before :smileygrin:

This wi-fi problem is world wide, cause it's the firmwire version bad... nothing else. Even if you type this on google search you'll find handreds of topics.

So, please be productive as much as you can and do not repeat every few hours, spend 10-15 minutes more browsing and I'm sure you can find the right answers.

There is a stable firmwire from T-mobile Croatia/Slovakia that fix all previous bugs... If you want Stable ICS than flash it.

Latest firmware ICS here and the guide to install it

The only down-side of this firmwire is T-mobile boot logo... but there are ways to change it or disable it.
