Use the application Documents To Go. You can find it in the market. It can read, create and edit word files (2007 supported), excel files (2007 supported), pdf and ppt

If you copy across or receive email attachment for .pdf file or word/excel you can use it to view them. You can't edit them for that you will need a paid app like the one Kannan suggested.

I know that the first 2 answers given are perfectly correct, Documents to Go is a very very good application and certainly you'd need the paid version to edit files.

But .. that's not what you wanted to hear.. I imagine....you want to know how to use the office suite program that came with the xperia ..right ?

Well I've just tested mine to check and this is how I went about it.

First I opened the application from the drawer...no surprise there.

Then I selected sdcard instead of phone, and scrolled down to a document that I had there, my resume.doc

I then clicked on this file and it opened.

for good measure I exited the file and tried again .. This time on the sdcard again and selected a pdf,

Well.. it opened.

Now you may be thinking that you have the ability to edit the doc files.....not so..read only.

I dont know why you have seen no supported files, I can only suggest that there actually were no files of doc or pdf or whatever on the location you selected.

you can use a file manager like astro file manager or Linda file manager to check if you have any doc files on your sdcard or phone for that matter.

there is a lot to this phone...more than the casual observer realises...It never ceases to amaze me , each day I learn something more...like the ability to

tether the phone, or the ability to slow its cpu down to a crawl to save battery time...brilliant phone !
