overheating when recording video

I recently tried to make a video of my son's school play and after a couple of minutes it heated up and a message popped up to say that the camera was being disabled due to this overheating (I can't remember the exact wording). For the short time that I was filming it must have used about 20% of the battery. My wife has a Samsung Galaxy III and she has the same problems.

By contrast my old Nokia N8, and even my N95 before that, was able to record for hours with no issues at all. Is this another generic problem with android?

I have never noticed this. So I suggest that you have your phone examined at an repair center because you should be able to record videos up till almost 4GB I think. I refer you to contact your local support team for more info.

As I said the same happens with my wife's Galaxy S3, but in any case I am using my N8 for camera and videos now as the quality is so poor on the Xperia - in fact I am seriously considering going back to my N8 full stop once I have installed the replacement screen as I am seriously disappointed with this android system altogether and I am finding bugs/inconsistencies at almost every stage. Sure the Nokia has its quirks as well, and I was looking forward to a bit of a change. However instead of it being a breath of fresh air that was promised I find that android is a seriously backward step - I find that I just can't do the simple things that I once could, and you have to have an in-depth knowledge of apps and the latest technology in order to get it to work, and even then it doesn't work.

Do you know if I can ask Orange to swap the sim card for a standard-sized one (I was supplied with a small one to fit this phone)? Luckily it is only £20 a month, but I'm going to have to take the hit.
