xperia ray, problem with network mode.

**I speak spanish, so, sorry if my english is no too good

I have an xperia ray with android version 4.0.4

In my phone: settings>more..>mobile networks>network mode

But the network mode is disabled and below says: Change network op. mode.

This not happen in my previous android phone (another xperia ray), and when I accessed to network mode, I can choose between WCDMA only, GSM only, and WCDMA/GSM.

Why in my actual xperia ray this happens?? how i can fix that?

If you have a branded phone, that means that it has been customized by your operator for example, it might be that they have "greyed out" some options concerning for ex networks and so on. Most likely that is what have happened in this case I'd guess.

@xperia support:

Even I have the same issue, however as you have mentioned above, in my case its an unlocked version, have used multiple carriers. able to make calls, browse, SMS, etc... but unable to switch network mode.

Do you guys have a solution for this? If you do not have, then I may have to think 100 times before buying a Sony next time, coz i purchased 2 phones xperia SL and xperia P, both have the same issue.

Hi Guys,

Even i got an Sony Xperia SL mobile phone, for me also the same issue. but the nework mode worked once after that it's disabled.

Let me know any one gets a soluion ?

I dont have a solution, but i discover that in service menu (dial *#*#7378423#*#*) we can change the network mode. I dont remember exactly where we have to access, because i dont have my phone right know.

Thanks Jose, yesterday when i digged more ... i also got the same solution,

1) type *#*#4636#*#*

2) It will take u to Testing menu, select "Phone Information"

3) Select the network mode in the drop down

It's working for my set, please try out.

I heard about an update to 4.1.B.1.13. But havent received yet.

That update..., you just plug in the phone and open PC companion? (I dont have my usb cable, thats why i havent plug in my phone)

hi,

i have a xperia sl... i bought it on 18th jan... went home and found out the network dropped... restarted several times... still no network... hence went to the sony service station... and they handed me a DOA certificate... got it replaced...

next phone same problem... went again to the sony center and again got a DOA certificate...

now again i have replaced it... yet the same problem persists... i cant keep going to the service center everytime for the DOA... pls let me know if there is a solution....

i have also tried changing the sim.... but still of no help... it shows the network for some time... then it doesnt even recoganise the sim....

i used the same sim iin my blackberry its working extremely well...

soo dont think its the fault of the sim... pls help!!....

Hi,

I think I've got the solution to ur problem, rather our problem. I'd been facing this issue for a couple of weeks, during which I was not able to make any calls when my network mode is set as WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA auto. I called up my network operator and they were able to provide me a solution. In the call settings menu, inside Additional Settings, there is a setting for displaying the Caller ID in outgoing calls. I had changed this setting to 'Hide number', and that was the reason I wasn't able to make any calls in the WCDMA mode. After I changed it to 'Network default' or 'Show number', I was able to make calls even in the WCDMA mode. Hope this helps you too.
