Not able to open photo gallary

I bought Xperia P before 1 week, I updated andorid version to 4.0.4, But after updating I am not able to open photos that I took. even i tried taking new picture but still I can't open image to view. can someone help please ?

If you go to Settings>Apps and then select All. Find Camera and then clear data and then re open the Gallery and see if this solves the issue.

Other than that, just to ensure that the pictures are being saved you could download Astro File manager from the Play store as that has its own Picture viewer.

Sorry also try clearing the data in the same way on the Photos and Videos app in the All list.

Hi,

I tried clearing data in both "cameara" and "Photos and videos" as you suggested, But it did not work. I also checked Astro file manager and I see those pictures in its picture viewer.

can you please suggest something else ? this did not work.

Ok so its good that the photos are clearly there and just points to the Gallery app not working correctly. The only way to repair that is to repair the phone using either PC Companion or Update service. These will reinstall the software on the phone and hopefully clear up any glitch that is present. They will wipe your phone data so make sure you have your contacts and SMS etc backed up.

can you please let me know the steps to repair the phone using either PC companion or Update service ? I am not aware about this yet.

Once downloaded to your PC/laptop then follow the onscreen instructions for connecting your phone. It takes you through a step by step guide which should be straight forward to follow.

It may say that your phone has the most recent update but there should be an option to Repair your phone if you are experiencing problems somewhere on the screen and this is the option for you.

Hi,

I got update service from link you provided , I started folliwing all the steps ...in "Connect' step , there are three points

(1) I turnned of my phone

(2) Connected Micro USB cable to USB port of PC

(3) I pressed and hold volume down key while plugging usb cable into phone ..

but after following all these steps , my phone is not getting detected and connected and update service does not finish "connect" stage.

Do you know what can be the issue ??? I am using windows 7 prof. on my laptop ..does it have anything to do with OS ?

It states that its ok with Win 7 so this shouldn't be a problem.

I am a bit stuck now, you could try it on another PC or you could try downloading PC Companion as well and try and connect your phone with it to see if it is a driver installation issue.

Hi desaimanan,

To connect your phone to PC companion or Update service you need to enable USB Debugging mode.

Go to Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging and enable it.

I strongly recommend you to use Sony Update Service instead of PC Companion. Because by upgrading through PC Companion I got some issues in my phone. After repairing through SUS evrythng is OK!!!!.

Just like suze said "It may say that your phone has the most recent update but there should be an option to Repair your phone if you are experiencing problems somewhere on the screen and this is the option for you". Click on Repair/Install.
