I thought that we shut that service down! In Email, many servers can be set up with the internal auto-setup wizard that replaces the OTA service linked above.

On the Xperia X10, there is an email app on the phone that you can use when you have your email provider's settings. Moxier email app comes on most X10s as well.

I have used this service successfuly up until a few months a go, but didn't realise that you have now shut it down. It's a real pity because the service was very useful, particularly for handsets with no in-built set-up wizard. I know that you can get settings from networks and email providers but this isn't always readily available and sometimes, as I found in the past, email settings are either given out incorrectly by some mobile networks or you need to scour the internet to find them. The SE set-up service however was very accurate when it came to email settings and where applicable, gave you the opportunity to choose between different incoming and outgoing server set-ups.It was such a brilliant service because you could get all the settings sent to your phone from one source very quickly and accurately. Considering the large database of settings that SE has accumulated, is there a plan to relaunch this service (MMS, internet & email set-up) in the near future?

Yeah, I've found that email providers are not really interested or don't know the mobile settings. When I rang mine to set up email on a W395, which can only be done manually on this handset, they actually told me it couldn't be done! Well, they were wrong but took me about two weeks of scouring the internet and a lot of guesswork to finally input the correct settings. The most elusive setting was the APN address (Access Point Name/Node) which turned out to be the web address of the mobile site of my email provider, who had previously told me it couldn't be done! A common misconception on the part of mobile networks and manufacturers is that the email set-up includes elements of the mobile network settings, which is only true when that particular email provider's SMTP server cannot be used, for one reason or another, but in most cases this isn't necessary and it won't work anyway. You only need to have the correct internet setting for your mobile network in order to access and send emails via the virtual servers, something which you can also do over a Wi-Fi connection whereby you don't use the mobile network at all.
