Dear support,

after upgrading to Android Version 4, my Xperia go has major issues with connecting to wifi-networks. It even jams other devices in the same network (tested with ipod, iphone, laptop and an ipad which is not affected while being on the 5GHz band).

Doing some research on the net, it seems like that is a common problem with Xperia Android 4 devices (and has been acknowledget by sony at lesat for the Arc S, Neo V and Ray).

My questions are: Are you aware of this problem with the Xperia Go as well? When will a fix be available?

I just bought the phone with the option to upgrade to Android 4, so a downgrade is not a longterm option, but would help for now. If this problem is not addressed until the end of this week, I'll return the phone.

I also strongly cannot recommend anyone to buy a Xperia Go with the goal to upgrade to Android 4 OS.

Regards, TK

Message was edited by: tkone

I'm sorry to hear. Have you tried to change the network mode or channel on your router. That is something that usually helps.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/154244#154244

I have tried different networks.

As I have several devices from different vendors that are working without any problem, I am not going to change any wifi setup because of one device. Especially not when this device has some known problems from other users and shows the same issues in different WiFi networks.

Anyway, I returned my phone to the reseller. He is well aware of the problems with current Xperia phones and won't recommend anyone to buy one right now.

Without any real help from Sony, I have to agree with him and I strongly discourage anyone from buying a current Xperia with the goal to update to ICS (Android 4.0.4).

regards,

tk

PS: old account didnt work, password lost email never came through.

Yup same here.

Upgraded to ICS and it worked fine for the firts few weeks. And now problems with the WIFI.

I put on the phone and it connects so my house wifi. No problem works fine. Then as i leave the house it says it still connected to my house wifi. Then i'm at work or at my wifes work and it still locked with my house wifi. While i'm miles away.

Before it would drop the house connection and pick up the wifi at my work of my wifes work. Even for a few weeks with ICS ..... but now it just lockes up.

So i try to shut down wifi (and then put it back on) ......to try to get the other connections but i cant turn it off.?!?!

It just stays on and keeps locekd with the last wifi it connected with.

Only way is to turn "off and on" the phone .... then it picks up either netwerk that is availeble. (and locks into that)

Even if i leave the house for a while and it is connected to my house wifi and working ...... i come back 1 hour later it says it's still connected to my house wifi ..... but i cant acces internet while my wifes phone just has internet and the laptop as well.

It's only the Go with ICS. My wife still uses the Go with GB ... and is looking at me with a smirk on her face. No problem there.

This is quite crucial that i can use internet on my phone so i can check my mail on the other locations.

And no it's not a problem with my or any other routers etz.

Please give us an estimate of the bug fix.

Regards,

Erwin

Yeah there is talk about a update but i don't wanted to wait that long. Phone is no use to me if no wifi.

So i did the repair..... that fixed the problem. But i had to reinstall my back up and still had to put back manually so many settings and email accounts ..... cost me half a day ....

But it works now ....

So i hope for you guys a bugfix will come soon. And if you cant wait... get a good back up of your apps and settings and then use teh SUS repair functien when you hook it up to your computer.

Good luck ....

I have the same problem, although, I guess I have. After the update to 4.0.4, my Wi-fi won't even turn on. It appeared immediately after the update.

So there's no router to connect to, because the Wi-fi function is not working properly. I hope there's a solution, very quick. I need the Wi-fi, because the reception of my mobile operator is very bad. I hope to hear from you very soon. Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Henrie van Hensbergen
Netherlands

Just make shure you have all your back ups on your SD card.

Then hook you phone to your computer an then do the repair function.

it will reinstall a clean install on your phone. so you have to put back all your back ups and settings. (i my case i had to do a lot manually because the back up does not include emailaccounts and soudn settings.

Mybe there are better apps for back ups but this was the standard ICS one.

So cost me half a day to make it work back the way it was.

But in the end ,..... it works now .... already for 5 days .... so i keep my fingers crossed.

I have now been informed by phone support that, unlike other xperia models with this problem, there is not an option to send the pnone to a Service Centre for a downgrade to GB and that there is no indication as to when an update / bug fix will be released.

Thanks for the the advice - I have done the same (without the WMM - my router doesn't seem to have this) and WiFi now works!

I still don't know how this will help with public access WiFi but at least I can connect whilst I am at home now.

Lets hope that there is an update soon that will properly fix the problem and we can connect to WiFi via b, g & n again.

Hello!

We just bought 2 brand new Xperia P, and we have the exact same problem on both phones:

We connect to a wifi network after that i can't disable the wireless, i have to switch off the phone.

Latest software version updated in both phones, and "factory reset" phones... both of them...

AND it also happens in a Xperia SOLA we bought in October.

If the phone "looses" signal from a wifi network it is connected to, it will not connect to another network anymore, we cannot switch the wifi off. Only restarting the phone will work...

We have already made "repair" / "reset" the phone, several times, after a while the problem returns.

Yes, i so so disappointed with this phone..... i can describe it.

So had alle the previous problems. (in a timespan of 3 months ) And in the end it stared crashing. Had to re install 2 times.

In the end i brought it back to the shop and they send it off to the service center…. ( at the shop they also couldn't do anything about it.) It just died.

So after 2 weeks with no phone…. and don't count on a replacement…. i got it back. Have got it now back for 2 weeks.

And surprise surprise …… the whole annoying thing with the wifi starts again….. Come somewhere and it picks up a network and i connect to it. And it never lets it go.

Can't switch and can't turn of my wifi ……

so only option to get it working is turn off and back on the phone.

I'm so fed up with this phone. It's just not compatible with ICS …. my wires one on GB works fine. And i spoke with a dude who has one and also stayed on GB and has no problems.

But for me it has been a disaster since ICS…. (I'm running on 4.0.4)

Ohja and the screen lock button on the top is alread half numb. Have to press it hard to get my phone back...

So Sony please do something otherwise i'm forced to go buy something else and i have no option than to spread the word on not buying your phone.
